Do we miss Richard Dunne?

Tudor

Vital Football Legend
At his peek the former City Captain was almost unstoppable. Hardly anyone got one over Dunny, now 37, but do we miss him and would he fit in with Pep’s playing style if he was still at his best and playing the game.

Given the number of own goals we're scoring under Pep, i think he'd fit right in :047:

Seriously though? Not a chance he could play out from the back

^ and City player of the year awards lest we forget. I agree though, his style couldn't be more removed from the way we're trying to play now.

He certainly was our best and outstanding player and Captain for a number of years and sad the way that Garry Cook showed him the exit, especially as the season after he had gone we missed him very much.

I'd say Distin in his pomp would be more suited to where we are now. Always felt he was underrated.

Am I right in saying ( top off my head) Dunny won three 'City player of the year awards' on the bounce? I'm sure he did.

Its was four 04/05 05/06 06/07 07/08 - for my money he was a better leader that Distin, more vocal, but they made a grand partnership in the centre when Richard could actually finish 90 minutes on the park.

Have to say he does a half decent TV punditry on BT Sport. He's a bit quiet but fairly enjoyable to watch.

Do we miss him, the short answer is not really. Would Pep play him, definitely no. At the time he won our best player awards he was most certainly our best player, but the quality and expectations on our players have moved up two levels since his time with us. As a pundit I think he does a great job, not gobby and precise. :033:

Likeable bloke and a steady defender ( apart for his penchance for putting it through his own goal )
Wouldn't fit in now but was good for us when he was in the team.
