Diego Costa

Alert Team
Clearly the centre of attention yet again yesterday. Always spoiling for a fight, often ramping up the intensity of his antics when things aren't going for his team he escaped punishment in the Chelsea win over Arsenal despite the widespread belief that he should have seen red.

Costa, despicable creature that he is, clearly engineered a situation against Arsenal laying a trap which Gariel stepped into with both feet. I haven't seen the game but all the still images that are out there surely mean that the FA will take retrospective action?

Did Mike Dean bottle it? There was a recent game where after being penalised by Dean for a tackle from behind on an opponent Costa went literally toe to toe with Dean, their noses almost touching as Costa stared him down. Dean smiled but it just made me think at the time whether Costa was getting inside the ref's head for the future. Seems to me as if it had an effect.

He is a horrid, horrid individual

I saw the game and Mike Dean lost control. At one point during the fracas he kept backing away as the Chelsea players pressed him en masse, something I thought had been outlawed. It reminded me of years ago when a bunch of rag players, led by an eye-bulging Roy Keane forced Ref Andy d'urso back down the pitch at the swamp, I think. That ref was demoted and sank without trace down the leagues if memory serves.
It will be interesting to see there is any follow up on Costa's behaviour. The refs reports are looked at by the FA on Monday so we shall see.

I think about how many times Costa had a swing at Ferna, until Ferna took his own retribution, but even that when I review it maintain Ferna did not once look at the ugly ba stereo because catching him with the elbow, but even after the break he was goading people.

He needs a strong ref to either tell him or if he he gets a nose to nose, send him off for being ugly, not that every ugly player should get sent off, only ugly ounces with the initials ubs (see above)

I am astonished at the latitude that he seems to be given. It is almost as if his aggressive style of play affords him more room than other players and for him to get carded it needs to be REALLY over the top whilst another, less confrontational player picks up a yellow for a milder transgression.

I do think that the referees need to be stronger and not bottle dealing with his sneaky digs, elbows, shoves etc. Start booking mphim early in games and by the time he has been sent off for the third time inside a month then maybe the message might get through.

Buzz's suggestion might work and the caution could be administered as soon as he lines up in the tunnel thus saving everyone time

Even Costa's team mates think he's a ****
