Did Pep get it Wrong?

many papers carry the news that Pep admits he got it wrong, and Stones alluded to the diamond formation against West Ham, which looked a balanced side, but because West Ham were poor or made to look that way by an excellent City performance, will it stand the test against dare i say it, better teams.

I was watching the Preston v Gooners game and the Ref gave a foul on the Arsenal goalie for a challenge, just like the one Vokes did on Claudio and then you wonder why we talk about consistency.

Are we coming into some sort of form or is the change of formation to this diamond shape that Pep has introduced the factor for a more solid defence?

Just seen the incident in the Preston v Arsenal game. That was a foul, perhaps a bit more obvious, but still an arm in the face of the keeper just like Vokes's challenge.

As for City and the diamond........a Chicken and egg situation? I think that something clicked against West Ham, or at least l am hoping that it did. But it isn't one single change imo, it will be a combination of things - the cumulative effect of Pep's coaching; the change in formation; the confidence everyone gets from not conceding oral within the first ten minutes of the game; the confidence that Caballero's experience of English football provided etc. Pep has alluded to the players 'getting it' and I think we my just have seen the first signs.

On Caballero's influence - I noticed how rapidly and confidently he got the ball into play again. This is not a new thing - it was always a stark contrast to Joe Hart btw.

He recycled the ball much more quickly than I have seen Bravo and I think it completely supports the view that Bravo's confidence is pretty much shot at the moment. It was a sign of Caballero's confidence that he was prepared to throw the ball out more quickly for example and conversely I think Bravo, having been caught out before, having been under such pressure both physically and mentally, has had the confidence sapped from him. Once bitten, twice shy is the saying and I am sure this affects his positioning and his decision making.

It will be very interesting to see.
The Everton game can't come soon enough for me. Get it right there and we will be set up to wreak revenge on the Spuds after that.

Yes, after that sort of performance you really want the next game to come along quite soon

Absolutely and whilst we're on the subject of Everton, it was a three at the back against them last time out and we battered them ( 2 penalty saves, 2 other outstanding saves in open play ) yet only got a point. When that result is viewed it looks like Pep got it wrong but if the players had taken their chances we'd have won easily and it would be viewed as Pep getting it right whilst playing 3 at the back.

The only game this season where I think Pep got it wrong was Leicester.
