Next up this Sat 8/8/19 is our first away match of the season at Derby County.

The corresponding fixture last season was on 1/12/18 where we lost 2-1, with Liverpool and Wales International winger Harry Wilson scoring both their goals, ours was an own goal by Tomori. Wilson scored 6 goals from 33 matches last season for Derby, 2 of them against us.

Well, we won’t have Wilson to contend with this time as he’s gone on loan to Bournemouth for £2.5m.

We last played Derby at home on 1/5/19 and drew 1-1, a Keogh header on 21’, before Routledge equalised on 66’. There were 7 yellow cards in that game, 4 of them for Derby.

Derby lost to Aston Villa in the Championship Play-Off Final last May and also lost manager Frank Lampard to Chelsea at the start of pre-season. He was replaced by Dutch International Phillip Cocu.

Cocu was Fenerbahce manager last season whilst Andre Ayew was on loan there, hence the reported interest in him from Derby.

Wayne Rooney has just signed for Derby as player/coach, but won’t take up the role until January due to existing commitments playing for DC United

Derby beat PL relegated Huddersfield away 1-2 last Saturday, a brace from Tom Lawrence, another Wales International, clinching the win.

It will be interesting to see who plays from the new signings on Saturday.

New signings:

24 Jake Bidwell (Defender)

11 Kris Peterson (Striker)

27 Freddie Woodman (Goalkeeper)

20 Ben Wilmot (Defender)

18 Aldo Kalulu (Midfielder)

19 Sam Surridge (Striker)

Tough one this, Derby are a talented side and it's a tough place to go but I'm confident with Cooper in charge. Plenty more options this season , especially in attack with Kalulu, Peterson and Surridge as new signings. I'd take a draw to keep our unbeaten run going.
