Hmmm, doesn't explain failing to do the basics when you're on the pitch though does it Martin?

Hindsight is a wonderful gift but I recall Denayer's agent making noises last summer about playing timed him possibly looking to move if he didn't play - it may be that his timing was all wrong and he got himself shipped out to avoid that dilemma whereas it turns out a young, hungry CB might have been preferable to have around. That's not to say he wouldn't have found the Premier League more of a challenge than his time north of the border.

But he and the club may find themselves in a similar quandary in the summer - bring him back to be part of the squad or seek yet another (big money - bound to be with the City Premium) buy in the transfer market........

Skoorb- I saw Denayer play for city once- 2nd half against Roma in Melbourne. Granted it was a friendly. However at times he made AK look world class............

I have refrained from starting a fresh thread to raise this thorny subject.......

Pellegrini stuck by 'his' man Martin Demichelis after the derby debacle, refusing to be baited by the media into blaming him for the defeat. Fair play, I respect Pellegrini for not hanging the guy out for the sharks to feed on. But having removed him from the pitch after his game disintegrated totally following his literal hospital pass back to Hart will he be selected again at CB?

Otamendi may well be fit by the weekend and if so will be selected for the Bournemouth nightmare, sorry, fixture and ought to be played alongside Mangala. Pellegrini withdrew Hart from the firing line when his shaky form merited it - will he do the same with Martin Demichelis or will his loyalty to 'his' man mean that he will want to show his confidence in him by selecting him at some stage as a CB before the end of the season?

Some belief needs to be retained in MD since we may need to rely on his before the season finally grinds to a halt.

My only thought regarding deployment of MD is why did MP not utilise F6 as a defensive screen from the get go?

A scapegoat? how many goals did we let in? how many goals did we score?

The point is that if MD had stopped the rag it would have been 0-0

don't see anyone picking out the forwards and midfield for not doing their job.

He'll be selected again IF we need him. If Otters is fit then he'll play. I think it's fair to assume that if all 4 are fit, MD is last choice. He's played a lot of games (including Sunday) because of multiple injuries to the other 3. Manuel has not had the 'luxury' of choosing to rotate/rest players this season. All changes have been forced through injury IMO :048:

I saw a picture of Otters somewhere lying on a bed with his legs encased in what looked disconcertingly like those waders you chaps wear when you go fishing. Better get the prayer mats out.

Pretty simple really I would think. If MD is needed then he will play! First choice? I can't see it, but as a stand by then of course he will play.
He has saved our bacon a few times in the past but he Is a bit too slow nowadays for managing against young fit and fast forwards
