It's not controversial - I'd like to think if I'd been living in a foreign country for 3 years I'd be able to hold a conversation in that language.

But its just such a non-issue to get wound up about and looks like you're trying to find any old thing to criticise/moan about.

As long as he can communicate with his teammates on the pitch, who actually cares?

I suppose everyone picks up different languages at their own speed, but you have to say even he hasn't had formal English lessons you'd hope having been in an English speaking environment for 3 years he'd have picked enough up in the natural course of things.

Probably speaks enough by now to get by, in day to day activities but not confident enough in an interview in front of a camera. Not that it matters particularly in the grand scheme of things
 
There was a YouTube video before where Sangare said he was getting English lessons twice a week .
 
Some people are shite at learning languages.
I could never get the hang of French no matter how many years I was taught it

I don't really know how hard it is to pick up a language abroad

How's your French and German living in Switzerland? How hard did you find it to get fluent and how long did it take?

It can't be something that's enjoyable to speak only French in England. It's not like a Brit living in Europe where enough speak your language to get by
