Following the unconfirmed speculation about Aston Villa's Ritchie De Laet heading out to Antwerp, the club have today confirmed the switch.

Good luck to him. It hasn’t quite worked for him here, probably due to injuries more than anything else, he ways looked ok when he played
 
Well good luck to Ritchie, going back to his home city, a nice city. I remember seeing Villa play Royal Antwerp in the UEFA cup back in the mid seventies.

On paper a good squad member able to play rightback, left back and centreback.
The trouble being, he'd been out injured for such a long time before he signed for us, saying he was rusty was an understatement.
We should have let him out for a few loan spells once signed.
Now we loan him out and if he gets game time and comes back game ready, we'll o ly get a year out of him before his contract is up.
 
He was first choicer right back for us when Di Matteo signed him 1958. It was in his 3rd game for us that he got his bad injury.
