He had some interesting things to say...

The key thing he had to say is the refusal of our wonderful Owners and Board to buy the quality of players we needed to stay in the Prem . Above all the banter on Twitter , that says it all really.

McNally very much looking back on his time with rose tinted glasses...yes he did some great things here, but once we won promotion to the PL, it was his falling out with Lambert and hiring of Hughton (and subsequent failure to sack him quickly enough) that meant we went back down again rather than became the established PL club we all wanted to be...

Not so sure if he fell out with Lambert.
I have no inside knowledge but it appears to me every time we have a chance to progress the owner gets worried and never backs the club to stay up and push on.
