Dave Roberts CEO

For the Club would it be helpful if each of the Trust Board members were responsible for specific tasks, progress of which could be reported to the Club on a monthly basis. For example, one board member to be responsible for PR, another for fund raising including auctions, dinners and guest speakers, another for food and drink at the ground, another for publicity, advertising and sponsorship, another for stadium improvement and development etc, etc etc.

Its difficult for me to comment on the trust board, as I am not directly involved, but I do believe that they all have roles, and put in a lot of time. So there is no misunderstanding, the trust board do not run the club, but do have two voted full directors on the board, who are involved in the direction of the club, and who I answer to along with the other Directors.

Would you like to see the Trust take over the responsibility for food at the ground on match days?

I would not have a problem if the trust wanted to put a proposal forward, but my own view is that it is a specialist area, and they would need some experience in that industry.

It is comforting to know that progress is being made regarding access and business generation at Sincil Bank. When are we likely to see an update and what other areas are being explored to help produce more income?

Regarding the access, when is the million dollar question, and when things are out of your control it’s difficult to predict. Regarding other income streams, these are always being explored, and over the last 6 years the leasing of areas of the ground has increase four fold, and non-match day commercial net profit doubled.

If the Football League could be persuaded to allow the return of terracing to the Stacey West would the Club support such a change, assuming none of the original grant had to be repaid?

This has been discussed on many occasions, and providing there was support from the fans I think the club would support the change.

Would you be prepared to take on the personal responsibility of ensuring that those supporters who subscribe to RIW enjoy better reception for match commentary in 2009/10?

John Vickers who managers the website and RIW is one of the most dedicated and hard working persons I’ve had the pleasure to work with, and will always help, takes great pride in his work, and I know will want to upgrade the service where possible. What I will do in answer to this question, is make a commitment to free up responsibly investment to upgrade if John feels it will deliver an improvement. Also, very happy to receive feedback directly. I’m not being evasive, but I don’t want to manage something that John does very well, but will support John if needed.

Other than by the Team winning more matches, how do you think the atmosphere can be improved most at Sincil Bank.

I’m not deflecting this one, but it really has to be generated by the fans, but with help and support from the club where requested. For me one of the big plus’s from last season was the improvements in the atmosphere made by the fans in the Stacey West, and I know that is not by accident, and was by a lot of effort and energy by some fans, and also I like to think support from the club when requested and reasonable.

Could the Club adopt the slogan:

LINCOLN - YOUR CITY, YOUR FOOTBALL CLUB.

This could be pushed in all publicity but particularly at primary school level to try and get kids into supporting the local side and wearing City shirts rather than those of popular premiership clubs.

I believe you raised this with David Beck, who did bring it to the recent board meeting. I think it’s an excellent idea, and one I’m discussing with our staff, to see how it fits in, and if it can be adopted.

Footnote:-

Thank you for the opportunity to do this Q&A, and I have tried to answer the questions in an honest and open way, but I would stress that the comments are my own personal view in some cases.

Downsouthimp
I opened an online Bet365 account in Feb. this year in response to a promotion via redimps.com. I was supposed to receive a free Away shirt after my first deposit. I have been e-mailing Dave Roberts, JV and Steff Wright to chase up on this and no one has got back to me, please can you sort this out for me?

DownSouthImp, who are you? If you would like to email me, I’ll deal with it, as I have as far as I’m aware dealt with emails received. Please also forward your previous emails, so I can investigate where the breakdown in communication has occurred.

Believe me DownsouthImp, Dave Roberts WILL deal with this and you will get your shirt if you contact him directly!
