As Sugar said Anderton got radiation poisoning from all of the x rays he had. lol

Quality player when fit mind.

Living in the south I watched Darren playing at ACFB, and having dropped to League One with Bournemouth he was streets ahead of his team-mates. I was lucky, baring in mind, I was fortunate to see-out his career, which was amazing. To those who didn't see Darren in the flesh then ,hey-ho, you missed out.

It is a shame he had so some many injury problems. Looking at his history he did a lot of cross country running as a kid. Wouldn't have helped.

Always loved this cracker vs Leeds.

A cracker as you say RD.

I just remember him for the 2 great loves in his life, being injured for Spurs and getting fit in time for England, waste of space.

He was an extremely talented player who turned down a move to United in '95, prior to his serious injury problems. Anderton has said that his injuries were misdiagnosed by Spurs medical staff to get him back playing quicker, which made things worse for him in the long run. Had he moved, he may well have had a fraction of these problems with United's medical team treating him properly, and would have won a bucketful of medals to boot.

It amazes me that with all his injuries, he still tops the list for appearances for us in the PL era. And yes, that means he played more than another injury prone player we had, whose words are emblazoned across WHL about us being his only club, and he did so in less years too. How can we as a club and supporters treat one injury prone player like a God, yet another like a sick joke?

Anderton displayed loyalty to us at what turned out to be a huge cost to his career, only to be discarded without the chance of a fitting farewell for the major signing that was Jamie bloody Redknapp, and seemingly the mockery of THFC fans in the process.

He doesn't deserve a bloody statue, or maybe even this testimonial, but he doesn't deserve such disdain either.
