Darlington head tells parents not to turn up in pyjamas on school run

Pride of Lions

I am now official
Seems like school runs are getting a bit out of hand in parts of the country.

Specially Darlington where the head has told parents not to wear pyjamas and slippers when dropping their children off at school.....

If you drop your children off at school, what do you wear?..... :10:

Saw this story....ridiculous! WHO CARES?!

A number of parents drop off kids at my son's primary school in what are clearly their pyjamas, so what?

It's surely a matter of self respect, and if they're happy like that, good on them. It pisses me right off that schools feel they can tell people what to do any more than they already do.

In fact, I might just wear my onesie tomorrow morning... :10: :19:

I was right with you there JPA, right up until the onesie comment :82:

The bit that gets me is that "a small minority, about 50 parents" of about 450 students at the school do this. The implication being that many more students are driven to school, we for me the question is, why are so many taking their kids to school? Surely they will learn more about life and be better prepared fro independence by making their own way to school on the bus, by walking or by cycling.

Wow, going out in pyjamas? What lazy fuckers. Get up, get dressed properly, show some respect and set a good example to your kids.

This just wouldn't have happened 30 or more years ago.

NO not a crime but bloody slovenly in my books.

I've only ever been out to the shops once in joggers let alone jim jams! It was after my brain op, I felt a scruffy bugger and never did it again.

Me and Natalie sometimes pick the girls up from cadets in our pyjamas.

Cadets runs from 7PM till 9:30PM, we drop them off get home and then want to relax once Buddy is in bed so we get into our comfy's. One of us then has to go and pick them up at 21:30, no point getting changed, we dont have to step outside of the car so whats the point?

I wouldn't do it if I thought I had to step out of the car or walk anywhere in them though. Definitely not.

She's a fine looking filly JPA..... wot wot wot... rather!!!!!

Is she part Jamaican or wearing gloves?

That's better JPA... very smart!

One of my old 'mates' (turned out a tosser after my brain op!) dad never used to come downstairs without a tie on I kid you not. He then relaxed somewhat and (oh sod off those silly buggers who are about to answer 'just a tie'? I meant shirt and tie AND trousers) conceded to just a shirt and slacks

Totally agree! Even if your running late, it doesn't take 2 minutes to pull a pair of leggings/trousers on and a clean top, a quick brush through the hair and you can go.

No need for it and a poor example. Not against the law no but no need for it especially if you stepping out of the car

Are you taking the piss? :17:

She wasn't actually saying you can't wear pyjamas. She just sent letters out saying it might be more appropriate and will teach the children more if parents dress appropriately for outdoors and the weather.

Absolutely right too! It's pure laziness. Not to mention how mortifying it must be for the kids to have their mom take them to school in pyjamas and slippers. My kids would never speak to me again! Might try it actually...

Teachers job is to teach not pass judgement on other people. Would I personally drop my kids off at school in my nightshirt? No. Is it any fucking business of a school if I do? Absolutely not. Who died and put this woman in charge anyway? She would get short shrift from myself that is for sure. What next, too many tattoos? A disrespectful haircut? Who made her the judge of all things right and tasteful?
