Darikwa contract extension

It's a deal until the end of 2025/26, with an option to extend for a year (he was previously on a deal to the end of this season, also with an option for a year).

I think it's hard to argue he wouldn't contribute over at least one more season - been very good, so good news (even if a little out of sorts lately IMO compared to an excellent/consistent start)!
 
Good to tie him down for a bit longer - will be 35 when the deal ends, but he is fit as a fiddle and has been our most consistent player this year by some margin, so it makes sense. He could arguably play at the level above as well, if we make it there in the next couple of years.

Yeah, just read the email properly and pleased to see what looks like a sensible deal for us with that buffer.
 
Said when he first signed he could easily become captain, and he demonstrates this every week. Contract extension underlines this, especially if o’c doesn’t extend.
Probably need more leaders on the pitch around the likes of cadz, makama, Duffy, moylan, ring, draper, mck, … especially now the going is getting tough.
 
Great news. Superb all season and a leader on the pitch. A bright spot in a bleak Christmas/New Year period.
 
Yeah I thought Liam might have been referring to Paudie yesterday (who knows, maybe there is more to come on that front) but Darikwa would be a very able captain should Paudie leave, and has at times acted like one this season.

It did seem like more than one player anyway, and personally I think Roughan could/should be looking at a step up (same with Erhahon), while House has not been in particularly good form. Whereas Paudie is a good fit for us and we're a good fit for him IMO.
