Danny Rose

As much as this would be a great signing I just can’t see it happening unless he doesn’t get on with Flitcroft.

Flitcroft also managed him at Barnsley, and bought him when manager of bury. The two seem to be on similar paths. For that reason, maybe we should stay well clear of rose

Cant see this being a starter at all, not if he is still under contract for a few seasons. Regardless of that, I doubt Mansfield would want to sell to a rival likely to be battling it out near the top spots either.

Didn't think we'd spend big on two strikers.
As for Angol you kinda felt him going there would end in tears.
Improved his bank balance but not his career, silly boy.

Mansfield did well out of it ... snigger. I'd still have Angol back but he's wasted a year in development and shown his hand re priorities so that ship's almost certainly sailed.

Back to the Conference for Mr Angol, then. It's almost as if he should have stayed with the Cowleys to improve him and bring his career on in the medium term. As we all suggested at the time.

Spot on mate think we all knew what would happen when he went there and so it proved.
Think young Mr Angol needs an arm round the shoulder type not a shouting one.
Really think his career has ended up in cul-de-sac at field mill.

I was pleased we didn't get Angol and wouldn't have him back. He's the type to sulk if he doesn't start and I wouldn't put him ahead of Green, Andrade or Akinde. For me he's not a Cowley type personality.

But if he spends the rest of his career in non league I doubt he has improved his bank balance in the long run

Never rated Angol. After that historic hat-trick at Braintree, he only scored three more for us in twelve games, and one was a penalty. Not a great strike rate, and that was in the National League. No thanks.

I reckon he could be a good project.

Seemed useful when I saw him.

If we can get him on loan stags pay half his wages

Either that or they release him for free and we build him up in time to get the winner at fieldmill

From what i've read on the Mansfield forum in recent weeks, they rated him as far better than Ricky Miller having seen them side by side. His major flaw is he only turns it on now and then. I always thought he held the ball up well for us, and when occasionally he was provided with a chance he could strike a ball well and finish. He didn't get a lot of service. If we could get him for a snip, on Lincoln wages that we offered last season, I think I'd add him to the squad.

I thought he was one of the positives to come out of the Belgium game.

Not sure. He's 23 now so still develop-able. I thougt he had something about him physically, speed and control- wise. I reckon there's potentially a really good player somewhere in there, but his attitude? Not so sure. Reckon DC will have better lined up anyway - think Angol shot himself in the foot leaving us and I don't think DC would go there again.

Shaw would be a project. Somebody coming in like Angol needs to be the finished article on the wages/fees he would cost. In other words Angol would have to take a massive pay cut (not happening) that is if DC would even entertain him.

Didn't tubby and co offer him double what we did?
he did and was estimated at around 3k a week. he wont want to wave goodbye to that sort of money, so either he fights for his place, or drops to National League on loan, which I guess he can still do after the window has closed. We are not yet that desperate, nor would we be wanting to pay him 3k a week.
