Danny Rose

No, not the Tottenham & England Danny Rose! This Danny Rose is the Northampton one who has previously played for Oxford & Fleetwood...he did begin with Manchester United mind.

Former Manchester United youngster Rose, who turned down a new contract with league two Champions Northampton, will officially become a Pompey player at the start on next month.

Wasn't entirely sure about the rumours as HITC sport seem to have 'sources' at every club BUT this is a done deal.

Do not know much about him but with plenty of experience 'should' do a job for Pompey, could have gone into league 1 with Northampton but couldn't resist Pompey!

Rose believes losing his place to Amine Linganzi gave him a 'bit of perspective' and allowed him to 'refocus' in order to find his best Pompey form so far.

Sounds odd, but what Rose said about his spell on the sidelines 'benefiting' him and Pompey makes sense.

Think he's been a REALLY good signing. Personally, I would have dropped Michael Doyle - I like him, and think he's a good captain - and played Amine Linganzi with Rose at the time he dipped out.

Definitely in top form at the moment.

Rose was immense earlier in the season, and I do think he went off the boil a bit but has come back just as strong. To be fair, Linganzi is a great option to have as back up, and when we are holding onto a lead with 10-15 minutes to go there's no calmer head on the park than Amine.

Just a shame that Cookie hasn't always, admittedly he 'usually' does in he end, always taken such an approach with all players - when they've not been at it.

Would be interesting to see Rose and Linganzi together, I reckon.

Portsmouth are represented in the latest Football League team of midweek that has been selected after this week's action.

Well deserved as I thought Rose was excellent against Grimsby.

MotM - in my opinion - was between him and Naismith but the injury to the latter meant it was Rose for me despite it 'officially' being given to Baker.

Officially Pitman was named the Pompey Man of the Match but it was always my opinion - and that of those I went to the game with - Rose had been the standout performer against Southend.

Rose hopes to add goals for Pompey but the signing from Northampton, after the former Oxford midfielder turned down a new deal, knows it doesn't count for much at the moment.

With Pitman missing (I'm assuming?!) I think Rose, which he would be anyway I feel, could be crucial against Plymouth today.

If Rose is as good against Argyle as he was Southend last week we'll not go far wrong, we'll need him to be with Burgess also out.

What a loss Rose will be between now and the end of the season, what with it unlikely he'll play again this term.

His return to the side has seen such an improvement in form and consistency... NO coincidence in my mind.

So, Danny Rose, as we know, isn't going to play again this season. As things stand this would mean he'll not pull on a Pompey shirt again as his contract expires in the summer.

Is Rose, despite his current injury, worthy of a new deal? It's the subject of the current poll and with a combined 90% - in two different options - there's little doubting it's felt he is!

Well, I say everybody, but that isn't strictly true. However, based on the results of our recent poll, it is pretty clear the vast majority very much like Danny Rose in a Pompey shirt.

Danny Rose's newly signed deal was finalised this week, which was positive news for all connected to Pompey - not that it was a surprise this happened.

There wasn't much doubt between the Fratton Faithful we should keep Danny Rose, now we know he's penned a new deal to retain with the Blues until the end of next season, at least.
