Dan ndoye

Really not helped by the tactical setup at the minute.

He’s often the only attacking outlet when we break, and unlike Elanga he doesn’t have that explosive pace to exploit opportunities.

If we’d widened the pitch by playing some more attacking players, he might have had a better chance of performing.

I like his workrate and his defensive discipline. Agree with the above re setup.

I think the problem is the expectations around signings, especially if the fee is large.

Hutchinson was a dud a month or so ago, now he’s the messiah. Ndoye is sometimes good, sometimes bad - I like the way he thinks about the game but his execution is often lacking at the minute.

Sangare was a whipping boy for years, but actually looks like a £35m player at the minute. McAtee is the latest dud, apparently, but I think he looks a really good technical player with a very high ceiling - how we realise that is another matter entirely.

All that to say that I don’t see the point of looking at things after four months of football. We signed a lot of players that we didn’t expect to walk into a relegation battle. The coaching in the early part of the season really didn’t give anyone a platform to shine.

Hopefully, we’ll be a little more consistent now and Dyche will find a better balance between attacking and defending than we started the game with yesterday, especially in our home matches. And that will give our wingers an opportunity to actually show what they’re capable of.

Hutchinson did well yesterday but he was playing in a side with much better shape and balance than Ndoye did in the first half. CHO on the other side was actually dragging their defence out and allowing Hutchinson to isolate the full-back occasionally.

Reminds me of Gakpo in ways. 3 managers and a new country in a few months its a wonder any of the signings know thier lefts from rights. They all need the full season I reckon to start judging.... bar hutch who's electric but has been here before. Only player im guilty of judging is mcatee who i thought was like a 10 year old for England and now more like a 9 year old haha

Agree with this especially the bit about not expecting to be in a relegation battle.
Problem is I doubt that battle is going away, I suspect we will be a bottom six side for the rest of this season.
And if the worse happens we may never see some of these players develop into what they could be.

Neymar had something like a 3 in 10 record of beating defenders one on one

And was considered a superstar winger

People remember the highlights that worked not all the failures and losses of the ball.

With wingers people expect way more than is possible to deliver as a result

Look at how much CHO struggles compared to his low success rate beating men and creating impact

Yet the other day Hutchinson had 30 mins where he was in the zone and beat his man pretty much all the time

Dont expect that every week

But at the same time dont over expect from Ndoye

Most games he gives us more than CHO at least

And CHO is highly rated

Its hard being a winger

Albeit Hutchinson just made it look easy the other day

He was definitely in the zone though

He could become an absolute superstar IMO

Totally agree that next season will be the time to really judge Bakwa, McAtee, and Ndoye

Our team will likely be down 2 of Anderson, Murillo and MGW. If we’re lucky just Anderson.

Filling that hole will take 2 very good bits of recruitment
