Dad's Army & Ghostbusters: What have they in common?

They are both releasing new films: So who will want to go and see them?

Dad's Army

...................

Catherine Zeta-Jones has been recruited for the Dad’s Army film. She’ll play a glamorous reporter tasked with filing a story on the doughty men of the Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard in the forthcoming big-screen adaptation of the classic BBC comedy.

The Oscar-winning Welsh actor has joined a cast that already includes Toby Jones and Bill Nighy in the lead roles of pompous Captain Mainwaring and his sardonic second-in-command Sergeant Wilson, the roles made famous by Arthur Lowe and John Le Mesurier in Jimmy Perry and David Croft’s original TV show. Producers today revealed that Tom Courtenay will play Corporal Jones, with Michael Gambon as Godfrey, Blake Harrison (of The Inbetweeners) as Pike, Danny Mays as Walker and Bill Paterson as Fraser. Director Oliver Parker has also added Alison Steadman, Sarah Lancashire and Mark Gatiss to the movie in as-yet undisclosed roles.

Ghostbusters

.................

Women-led Ghostbusters reboot is official: who they gonna cast?

........................................................

A new Ghostbusters film is on the way, and this time women will be doing most of the busting.

Director Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat) confirmed on Twitter Wednesday long-swirling rumors of a Ghostbusters reboot, and announced that Katie Dippold (Parks and Recreation, The Heat) is helping write it. “It’s official,” Feig wrote. “I’m making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That’s who I’m gonna call.”

The original Ghostbusters movie is like a lot of other films: the story of a group of men whose technological innovation, devil-may-care attitude and entrepreneurial spirit lead them to take advantage of an unexpected spike in demand. It’s just that their particular good fortune was a paranormal invasion of New York City.

Dads Army.... No, no, no, no, not now, not ever, just no.

Ghostbusters, fine.

Hope that helps.

Ghostbusters is a possibility for a relaunch but I doubt that most today have that same relationship with 1940s Britain the the 40 plus generation have through their parents and even direct experience for the older ones so I can't see it working.

I really can't seethe Dad's Army being anywhere near what it was as a film now tbh, i think they should leave that one alone, asfor Ghostbusters YEEEEAAAAH baby but i hope it has got Bill Murray in it oh and Sigourney Weaver revealing a breast now that would be good ;)

Did you know that Ghostbusters was released in 1984 on exactly the same weekend that Gremlins was. Ghostbusters beat Gremlins in every single state in the US other than New York, apparently the New Yorkers were unhappy with the way they were depicted in the film!

Not into either, Dad's Army, really? That needs a film like we need a new series of Birds of a Feather.

Ghostbusters 3, suppose, but without Harold Ramis, it will seem empty and sad! Perhaps they'll bring him back as a ghost......

Course Hrold Ramis ''Egon'' has died ay he, clever bloke and talent will defo be hard to get the film's buzz back without him agree

Think Ghostbusters is doable, I would imagine it will be a newer version as opposed to a follow on?

But just don't see worth it or doable for dads army, it was such a classic.

Yeah Deano read the articles: I am sure you guys will like the fact that the new Ghostbusters will be an all female Ghostbuster line up including Katherine Zeta Jones.

I personally think both should be left alone and the memories stay as they are. I think it will ruin them both

The second film is shite though. It's the same as the first but with more slime.

You will never beat the Stay Puff Marshmellow Man, It's just genius!

The only thing that intrigues we on Dad's Army is the cast. It does look like they have made a rather good job of getting the right people for the parts. If the story can match up, at least it shouldn't be too offensive? Or is that me just being over positive?

To be fair after taking a look at the new cast and seeingthem side by side the old cast they have thought about it it seems, here take a look
