Current Squad: December 2020

I think this will be a interesting transfer window with all clubs in effect having no income any player catching the eye of any club higher up the leagues would have to talk. . It may be not what we want but im afraid being top is going to turn heads

It's the model. Unfortunately, the times are not as propitious as we might have hoped.

Only plus side of lack of income is that most clubs won't have silly cash to splash and a player would really be wanting a move to be tempted. I get the feeling from various interviews that the squad is happy to be here and working with MApp - and the Championship potentially beckons if they stay on board.

Update after the signing of Morgan Rogers - we'll consider him a striker for the time being, although he is also rated as a winger and attacking midfielder:

Current average ages in each department (excluding Alex Bradley and Ethan Ross):

Goalkeeper: 21 years 3 months

Defence: 22 years 2 months

Central midfield: 26 years 11 months

Wingers: 23 years 1 month

Strikers: 21 years 6 months

This is where we stand against the 22-man squad requirement:

21+:
Anderson, Archibald, Bridcutt, Edun, Elbouzedi, Grant, Hopper, Howarth, Jackson, Jones, Lewis, McGrandles, Melbourne, Montsma, Palmer, Walsh (16)

U21:
Cann, Eyoma, Gotts, Johnson, Long, Morton, Rogers, Roughan, Scully (9)

Please remind me what the "the 22-man squad requirement " is.
According to Section 1 (General) and Section 6 (Players) of the EFL Rules, League One clubs are limited to a squad list of 22 players, which must be filed with the EFL by a set date; a minimum of 8 must be 'home grown', which is a misleading title and actually carries a much wider definition. The maximum salary spend for League One clubs must not exceed £2.5m.

Clubs can apply to the EFL to remove and/or add players to their squad list; for example, Northampton removed Joe Nuttall from their squad list last week because they have the full complement of 22 and need room for new signings; Chris Lines moved to Stevenage yesterday for the same reason.

Players under the age of 21 at the start of the year in which the season begins (i.e. 1 January 2020 for the 2020-21 season) are exempt in terms of the squad list and the £2.5m salary cap. Therefore, you can have as many U21 players as you can afford.

Relating this back to Post #28 above, Lincoln currently have 16 players on their squad list over the 'age 21' definition, and at least 8 satisfy the 'home grown' stipulation. The other 9 players listed as U21 are exempt from the squad list and the salary cap requirements.

The squad list reduces to a maximum of 20 from the start of next season.

On the subject of Lincoln's squad list, MA appears to have plenty of wriggle room with only 16 places of the maximum 22 filled. However, he must also plan for next season when the maximum squad list for League One reduces to 20; Anthony Scully will occupy one of those places (if he stays with us beyond the summer) because he will no longer satisfy the U21 requirement, thereby taking Lincoln's squad list to 17 out of the maximum 20 permitted. All of a sudden, things become tighter and more complex for clubs to comply with the regulations. Therefore, supporters should not be too surprised if the club apparently 'fails' to offer a contract extension to an existing player - MA needs to make sure that every single one of the 20 places is maximised.

It all changes again if we are promoted to the Championship, of course; that complicates contract offers even further because the rules are different (25 players on the squad list for starters).

Minor point but Anderson is now 24.

Didn't realize Harry's deal was up this June. That hasn't got as much attention as Grant's contract talks.

I think i have read we have an option to extend by 12 months which we has not been mentioned in relation to Jorge so presume we will just extend and move the deadline down the line.
