WTF is going on with our society. They almost killed the kid. It's disgusting behaviour. I despair.

Why did so many just stand and watch. ?

The story said 8-10 people did the beating and the people that watched were from the same group so anyone trying to get to help the lad had no chance of getting to him and would have been foolish to put themselves in the middle of a hate mob.

Call me foolish. I would have gone in but that's me. My compassionate and civilised side would have taken over. It's early days so I don't know the full details. I was just shocked at the brutality shown to a kid seeking safety.

Same here.

Knock a few of the complete morons out and it might well have stopped it.

I hope they end up getting the exemplary extra long sentences they will no doubt deserve, mind you with our judges I do wonder if they will.

send a message justice system and make it a very loud one.

The cynic in me wonders how much media coverage ( if any ) this would have got if he wasn't an asylum seeker ?

Beatings in town centres late at night aren't news anymore unless there's an angle.

Almost certainly not as much (perhaps even none on a national scale), but you can't blame the media for using it in the way they have.

I can !!

I wonder why the media aren't speculating at what the ' child refugee' ( their wording ) was doing outside a pub at midnight anyway ?

It ok saying what you would do but I reckon the majority would steer clear of such a mob. Especially if they were all drinking beforehand. These people carry knives and are just thugs with no regard for people. I reckon a good percentage would want to help but the fear of getting hurt would stop them as they value there lives.

I read one of the thugs was sobbing in court. Well dont be a sheep and think about the consequences before you go and kick someones face repeatedly with everyone else. The morning after he comes to the realisation that his actions will cost him a good chunk of his life.
