Critchley Being Linked

Vital Football Legend
With every speculative managerial post going....

Speculations about Brendan Rodgers and a possible chance to take over at Old Trafford would of course start a new speculation about the new man coming in to take over. One name that surely would be far from likely is Blackpool head coach Neil Critchley. His work at Bloomfield Road is fascinating reading as the Tangerines are just one point from a play-off position in League Championship.

You have of course the obvious possibilities and the names mentioned as Leicester are out looking for a manager, but they will probably look at people in charge of teams that has shown great progress and the former Liverpool coach must be said to have lifted life at Blackpool.

Blackpool had their best years in football back in the 50’s, winning the FA Cup and with a certain Stanley Matthews in their team. Later they have sniffed at the top tier and as we all remember being in the top flight in 2010/2011. With Ian Holloway in charge they were surprisingly promoted but had to see relegation as it was obviously very difficult to compete with a lower budget and little or no routine of such life.

Brendan Rodgers have a clause in his contract, being able to leave Leicester if an offer from one of the big guns comes calling. With that in mind you are always on the look for a job above the shelf of foxes life.

Since the Thai owners came in at Leicester several managers has been taken in to bring glory and fortunes, but going forward you might need another approach and with Neil Critchley you will get a mix of what is needed to bring the club to a status you probably would like. Critchley has a combination of skills that would be good and he is similar to Brendan Rodgers in every way.

Critchley like Rodgers did not have a very impressive playing career with only one league appearance for Crewe Alexandria to count. You might remember Liverpool not being able to play with their first team in the EFL Cup and the club fielding a youth side for the game v. Aston Villa, the man in charge at that game was Neil Critchley. He also had the same job in the FA Cup when the first team went on leave. Critchley took charge against Shrewsbury and won the game. TCF believe he should be on a short list if the manager job at Leicester becomes vacant.

There are of course a number of candidates, with people like Daniel Farke and Nuno Espirito Santo most certainly qualified. Both are with great experience from clubs similar to Leicester and must be said to have done well in their former positions at Norwich and Wolves, but if they are candidates, who knows.

Leicester do need a capacity of dimentions to be able to keep the club flying at the level they are at the moment and with Steven Gerrard joining Aston Villa he is ruled out, in the picture together with Neil Critchley at Liverpool. Scott Parker and Frank Lampard are names certainly to be in the hat when and if Brendan Rodgers makes his move to Old Trafford.

Blackpool are plotting a new contract for manager Neil Critchley as they bid to secure his long-term future, Football League World can exclusively reveal.

The Tangerines have enjoyed great fortune under Critchley since his arrival, with him helping them into the Sky Bet Championship after winning the Sky Bet League One play-off final last season at Wembley.
Indeed, it’s certainly been a positive period in the club’s modern history, particularly after what had gone before, and it is now the case that the Seasiders want to reward the former Liverpool employee with a new long-term deal, Football League World understands.
Critchley currently has around 18 months left on his present contract with the club but his work has naturally attracted admirers from further than Bloomfield Road, and Simon Sadler is eager to get an extension sorted for him with that in mind, ideally before the turn of the year at the end of next month.

Certainly, you could not argue that Critchley does not deserve such a reward for his work over the last couple of years, with Blackpool playing an attractive style of football and more than holding their own in the second tier this season, with them currently just a point outside the play-off places.

Leicester would be mad to look at Critch no pedigree and little ability. Surely Lampard or Brian Robson would be better options for a big BIG club like them.
