A California creationist is offering a $10,000 challenge to anyone who can prove in front of a judge that science contradicts the literal interpretation of the book of Genesis.

Now that would be interesting to watch!

I liked Genesis. Abacab or Duke.

As for the rest, meh. Sorry, science hasn't got anything left to prove on this surely? And that isn't an anti religious post btw!

Now there is a Revelation :17:

It would make an interesting court case though, just to see what how robust the legal system is. After all, if the literal 7 day creation of the world can be proved in a court then how do we trust every other ruling made?

The main problem here is that the Old Testament is very much subject to interpretation, so can be twisted to mean what the defendant wants. Add to that, the Law has no standing when it comes t the Bible, so why challenge in a Court?

If you wanted an example, Plants were created before the Sun, so couldn't possibly have survived. That is, if you accept that by "day" they really mean a larger timeframe than an actual day.

In the end though, Genesis contradicts itself, so nobody needs to prove that Science contradicts it.
