Wow... what total cowards....?

only one person helped, I'm shocked at that.

I thought it might be higher as well, but maybe it's a good thing? By intervening you are extremely likely to make things worse in the long run. As the article says, you are far better reporting it and leaving the matter to people who are qualified to help.

Instinct would say jump in, but thinking about longer term effects should also be in your mind.

Nope, that bloke obviously needed help controlling his girlfriend and yet no one helped him?

Joking aside, report it? Then? Maybe if it was a neighbour or someone you know but strangers, I could only give vague descriptions and then nothing would be done surely?

I would rather see the bloke get a bit of his own cowardly treatment.

Trouble is next time you want to criticise my jokes you've put yourself in a very dodgy area.... Bad luck!!!

:17:

Seriously though, just one person helping and not one man.

Maybe this is a cultural thing ? Can't see that few Brits responding, can you? My mom would be straight in there !!

I would say intervine cos what happans like a wench i knew back in the day her chap belted her up etc the police when called she would just dismiss it as nothing, so we sorted out ourselves and gave the ba**ad a kicking outside the pub, happy days she is not with the tw*t anymore and has a nice family and job ;)

I saw an incident many years ago on the Stratford Rd in Hall Green near the Bulls Head. A guy and a girl were arguing then he hit her. I went across the road to help her. Tried to calm it down and get the guy to walk off. The girl turned on me effing and blinding and the guy ended up holding her back to stop her attacking me.

Very confused.

People tend not to bother getting involved. Was it in China where a child got run over and was dying on the side of the road, yet people just kept walking on by?
I guess as time moves forward, more and more people just think of themselves. Just driving on the roads tells you this - its just one big rat race and everyone seems to just be in it for themselves. Maybe just too busy I guess to bother with any hassle, rather being actual cowards?

Sad video but good to see how it highlights today's ever changing attitudes.

Cheshire dude that is the problem, the wenches most times defend there blokes seen it myself, that bird who i knew got beaten by her chap would always make excuses and even ignore anybody telling her it ay right, there is no magic cure only the women themselves can sort it IF they want it to be, usually they am frightened to lose the very chap that does this to them, you am damned if you do and damned if you don't ay ya.

Same thing near enough happened to me on a night out in Stourbridge. It would be worth intervening if that intervention leads to the victim leaving that abusive relationship, but all you've done if you stop it there and then is for yourself, so you don't have to witness it. You'll just delay the victims fate. Reporting it to the police has the perpetrator on a database, so at least they can't stay totally free from scrutiny in the future.

The human race has always been designed for self preservation. It's sad but true.

In which case the amount people willing to put themselves directly in the firing line for a stranger is pretty low.

Me... I'd like to think I'd help... I'd go as far as to say I definitely would... but then once you're actually in that situation and self preservation kicks in.... who knows?!?

Being a woman, I would ring the police and stay near by. I had that situation a few years ago. I would have thought though more men would intervene. The police were there in a few minutes, in the situation I am on about

Remember years ago when I was a mere 'kid' (so 18 ish) I pulled up a t-junction at night near my home. Saw a lady crossing the road a bloke a bit further back doing the same following.

I turned towards where she/he were walking, pulled down the window and made sure she was ok. He came running up. Turns out husband and wife who had argued. Both thanked me for giving a shit.

I ran over them for wasting my time obviously, but ... (why do I always have to spoil nice stories :3: )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUehfnUNLdM Alternatively if the experiment is to see how people react to an apparent ATM mugging....

I think I'd hit that guy saying it is a prank, it is far from a prank in my eyes.
