In my experience there was one good teacher in my academic life, the one at primary school, who taught me the 3 R's.
After that, for the entire comprehensive years Iearned absolutely nothing of interest. There was no vision,no career strategy, being taught about kings and queens, how to play the recorder and freaking RE.
From the age of 12, the only part I went for was sport and girls.
I reckon I give more insight to kids day to day than I ever recieved there, i.e how thier interests can be followed and theres industries they have never explored that can be wonderful. For us it was be a fireman or work in a store.
I don't really blame teachers, more the totally pointless system as a whole. When we have leaders coming from comprehensive schools then I will see progress.
