#COVID19

So now we know that not only were the Government messing up the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement, they ‘failed their citizens’ by planning for the wrong pandemic, causing more deaths and economic damage than should have been the case.

On the plus side ‘planning’ for Brexit had improved the supply chain (according to the politicians), which I guess can be witnessed by the mass of useless PPE brought into the country by Tory doners, currently being destroyed.
Have to agree. A completely unknown viral disease is unleased on the world by a foreign government and it caught us completely off guard. Absolutely unforgivable.

What was unforgivable was not being prepared for any form of pandemic.

The inquiry is turning up more and more examples of incompetence, ill-preparedness and profiteering by the day.

Otherwise known as making the best of a bad job under exceptional circumstances. Absolutely disgusting that mistakes were made. Anyway better luck next time.

You should have mentioned this earlier, you could have saved Baroness Hallet all that time and effort, not to mention all the money it would have saved.

Although, and I appreciate that this definition is from the Australian Government, so it could refer to sheep, but it seems as though a pandemic is actually a new disease……they state;

A pandemic is the worldwide spread of a new disease

So maybe the Government should have been better prepared, and Baroness Hallet actually had a point.

Absolutely. How about preparing for all once every 100 years events? Just to be on the safe side? Can't be too careful.

What symptoms did you have ?
Not as bad as you by the sounds. I had body aches, a persistent headache, sore throat, and lethargy. Maybe a bit of shortness of breath but not too bad. Just couldn't really get out of bed. The pain was fine with paracetamol and sleep - I just couldn't do much useful. Hard to concentrate/read.

Not complaining - it was all very manageable, if inconvenient. For me it has gone very quickly when it was done, but I have colleagues that have had it linger on a while. And they aren't the type to be held back by much.

Or just preparing?
I would hope that this is what Government did, you never know what's around the corner.
Failure to prepare and all that.

You might want to read a bit more of the findings. The Government had plenty of opportunity to prepare but decided not to.

I would rather stick pins in my eyes rather than read an utterly predictable " hindsight " report from people who are largely making more money than they really should out of a shitshow.

And how much do you think was being made during Covid by people who should have been trustworthy? I can guarantee there are more zeroes at the end of that figure than there are by the report writers…

I had the aches and high temp. Couldn't get out of bed. Developed further into tonsilitis.

Among other things, this "hindsight report" is comparing actions taken by government against the instructions they were given from their own foresight report, which was ignored.

Hindsight? Is it actually possible to have an inquiry before the event the inquiry is investigating?

I have had it 3 times and every single time the one thing that was by far the worst was how fatigued it made me. I am a night owl and can generally get by on around 7 hours. I was sleeping 11 hours a night and still feeling completely pole axed every time I did even so much as 30 minutes of light activity, then needing to sleep for a few hours just to feel capable of doing anything. I wasn't right for about 2 months after the first time. Luckily with the other two it was just a matter of weeks.

Headaches, fever and losing my sense of taste/smell happened each time with decreasing levels of intensity. Only had a very mild cough though.

The report is only predictable because it said the government did a negligent job which, to be fair to him, was indeed entirely predictable.

We knew what the enquiry would find, because we saw nearly all of it at the time. We saw a lot of the errors before covid even reached our shores.

The tory scum should never ever be forgiven for the absolute fraud & parties the saddest thing is because of how disgraceful they were when this shit happens again thousands of people will die needlessly again because they are lying thieving scum *****

Boris is a haunted looking **** & when the money is right or he’s going through his latest divorce he’ll apologise publicly but it’ll be the same scum bullshit
