Coventry v Swansea, Tues 2 Nov, 19:45
After the euphoria of another home win and a leap up the league table, fate has it that the next two games this week are away to sides at the peak of their form.
First up it’s surprise package this season, Coventry, on Tues night.
Coventry gained promotion from L2 in 2018 and had a season of consolidation in L1 before winning the L1 title the following season in 2020. Another season of consolidation where they finished mid table in the Championship brings us to this season where they are presently cruising in 4th place in the table, a point behind West Brom, thanks to their excellent home form and an ex-Swans loanee. Six wins and a draw so far at home make them a formidable side to play against, with Victor Gyokores’ nine goals aiding their efforts. Last Saturday they won at lowly Hull 0-1.
Coventry have a proud history having spent 34 consecutive years in the top flight from 1967 to 2001. They are back playing at the 32k capacity Ricoh Arena (now called the CBS Arena) after spending several seasons away due to a dispute with the stadium owners, ground sharing with first Northampton then Birmingham.
The task now for the Swans coaching team is to replicate our home form in away matches, with only one win in seven away matches to our name, improvement is key to this season’s success.
