When it was announced on Thursday night that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Chelsea player Callum Hudson-Odoi had tested positive for coronavirus, it was inevitable that both the PL and the EFL would reverse their decision to go ahead with this weekend’s fixtures.
They held an emergency meeting Friday morning to discuss the latest development and decided to suspend all league fixtures for three weeks until Friday 3/4/20, at which time the situation will be reviewed.
The matches involved for the Swans will be 14/3 M’boro (a), 18/3 Luton (h)
and 21/3 Millwall (a). We are due to play on 4/4 Sheff Wed (h).
In three weeks time the Coronavirus outbreak in the UK will probably be a lot worse than it is now, so I can’t see any mass gatherings being allowed at that time or in the immediate future.
It’s a shame as we were in the ascendancy playing-wise, only bad luck with late goals conceded and dropped points stopping us getting into a play-off position.
It was all to play for and it’s anybody’s guess if we will still be able to maintain that momentum if and when fixtures do finally resume.
