Sad to hear that Prem. Sceptics will come round to believing the threat is real if they get it but UAE is right to treat all information with a questioning mind.
My take on this is that governments in the West have damaged the economy far more than if they had acted faster to protect public health. The problem is years of austerity have left us ill prepared to adapt quickly enough to the challenges of a pandemic.

Exactly the same happens here in Oz. Politicians (including the PM) come on nightly to tell us off and threaten us despite not practising social distancing or hygiene rules themselves. Crazy World!

Prem, please inform yourself correctly. Hungary is the country that has suspended parliament and is ruled by decree for the indefinite future. Is Viktor Orban a socialist?
Of the other European countries I think Italy has been the most restrictive of its citizens. Salvini is hardly what one would call a socialist. Fascist would be closer though sanitisers might merely call him a right wing populist.

Russia is a transcontinental country straddling Eastern Europe and Northern Asia. It is already in most senses a dictatorship so there is no need for its leader to exploit coronavirus to grab more powers. I certainly wouldn't describe it as socialist in any meaningful sense of the word, nor would I describe any European country with a centre left government as socialist. Most European countries have mixed economies. In contrast Cuba is socialist and due to external pressures from the Great Satan it is a tad more of a repressive state than its founders would have envisaged.

As we all have plenty of time on our hands I urge you all to give this a watch.
It's some proper investigative journalism into the current world situation and how the figures are being manipulated to terrify the general population into flushing their freedom and rights down the toilet for a totally overblown illness, that has now been vastly downgraded.

I agree that the stats may be skewed and need detailed analysis and I agree that there is potential to exploit it to introduce powers that governments may be reluctant to relinquish but frankly, if you spoke to anyone who has witnessed a truly horrible death you would not treat the reality of the illness lightly. Annual flu doesn't flood our hospitals like this.

I watched an interesting interview with medical / scientific expert yesterday. Much has been made of a pandemic exercise run in 2016 by the NHS and on the back of that why the NHS didn't have even more stocks of PPE in reserve. He did say that exercise was run on the basis of a flu pandemic, which was less contagious and a lower incident of the need for critical care. He said on that basis it would not have modelled the astronomical higher need for PPE we are seeing with coronavirus. It has also exposed the fact that we have become too over reliant on supplies of PPE from overseas, particularly China. And the whole world are chasing those same supply sources. We need to make strategic supplies in this country in future.
Another interesting article from a couple of medics yesterday was on the nature of the development of the virus and symptoms. They said it actually was more like altitude sickness where there is an oxygen deprivation but the muscles in the lungs are still working for the majority of even seriously ill patients. In such circumstances a CPAP machine is more appropriate. Such a machine helps by pushing higher concentrations and pressure of oxygen into the lungs through a mask or tube up the nose. The patient breathes themselves with this help and are not sedated with an invasive ventilator. I believe Boris had a CPAP machine. The 2 medics say too many patients across the world have been put on ventilators too soon (as if they had been treating pneumonia in all cases rather than this new virus). Interestingly, UK manufacturers have already produced at least 10k additional CPAP machines and are starting to produce and release additional ventilators. And it looking like we won't even need the existing capacity of ventilators.
I note that Japan (the country that was adamant it wanted to go ahead with the Olympics) has now declared a national emergency as cases and deaths are now growing again in a second occurrence and they are warning their hospitals could be overwhelmed. It is also clear they are having difficulty identifying all cases.
There are still so many unknowns and learning still to be done on this virus and with a mass vaccine probably still 8 or 10 months away, then it is sensible to proceed gradually. In doing so Governments around the world need to be transparent about their planning and the reasons why certain restrictions or different ways of working, travelling and living may be necessary.

Don't misunderstand it isn't a case of treating things lightly there are clearly cases of extremely sick people with pneumonia and breathing difficulties.
We have never had blanket coverage of a heavy flu season before so do you think you have the proper information to compare?
Look at the figures for UK deaths from all causes in the past 3 years, you will find that the 2020 numbers for the corresponding months are in fact very similar.
And for the record, no way on this earth would I take a vaccine solution being heavily pushed by Kill Gates

Got this from my switched on mate, wonder who is telling the truth?

I have checked the data myself and there is an omission in March 2020 which adds on another 12,000 but still only producing a total of 150,047 so its right in the middle (3 years more deaths, 2 years less)
