Coronavirus vaccine

Finally the Goveenment have stopped being overoptimistic and have been more cautious. This seems to be ebbing away a bit so I find myself almost unbelieveably agreeing with Grant Shapps' and his more cautious approach. I hope the Government resist the pressure from the right wing nutters in the CRG to open up too soon again.

Talk about first world problems. People pressing to be able to have foreign holidays. We are in a worldwide pandemic. Just do without for a while ffs. I've recently retired and had planned to have loads of trips before I'm too decrepit to do anything. Tough sh#t. I'll have to do without for a while. I'm thankful that I'm living comfortably in a safe country.

I thought me and my missus were the only ones who thought like that. 👍

Totally agree with that on a national level. However, on a more selfish note, my last bit of time off of more than three consecutive days was my holiday in August 2019. Have to say, I'm pretty f***ed physically and mentally and I rate a holiday in the sun as my number one thing to look forward to.
Keep your pubs/restaurants/shops etc etc. Give me 30°c, a poolside sun lounger and a draught San Miguel and I'll be your friend for life 😁☀️😎🍺🍺🍺🍺

Also on a selfish note I want Lockdown measures lifted sufficiently for my cricket season to start on time - 18th April. I'm running out of years when I'm capable of playing at all.

I've formed my own one person CRG (Cricket Recovery Group).

Well, I think fewer people would be thinking about a foreign holiday if the UK wasn't such a fucking dismal shit hole at the moment. We can't go out anywhere as all known public places/commercial places are closed down. Nor can we socialise with anyone in public either. We can't even go and do anything as a family. It's like a 2 month long rainy day with f all to do. The weather is shite, so we can barely even go out side and enjoy parks/local fields with the kids like we did in the summer. This lockdown has been way worse than last IMO. Obviously it made Dry January really easy, but that's where the benefits end.

We've barely left the house in the 2 months - only for shopping and a few trips down to the local park when it wasn't hammering down with rain. My kids are now addicted to computer games, when previously they would spend virtually every waking hour doing sports. It's a sad state of affairs when we actually look forward to driving up to my father-in-law's flat in London for a few hours just for a chance to get out of the house. I hate the bloke but i'll even put up with his company in his tiny flat if it means breaking up a full on week of fuck all else to do. We are his support bubble, so we're allowed to go up there and help him out, before anyone asks.

Before that, we had a few weeks of kind of socialising but even when we were allowed to do a few things, it was under so much regulation it wasn't really anywhere near life as we knew it. It's been nigh on a year of this shit now and to be honest with the latest crap about new strains that the existing virus isn't as effective on, I simply cannot see a light at the end of the tunnel. Every time we get a small glimmer of hope, we hear about another mutant strain or something. Another expert comes out with more comments about keeping the lockdown on until june or something. It's really soul destroying, i am not surprised some people just want to get out of the country for a few weeks.

I only want the lockdown ended when it's safe to do so, but i have to say i bloody hope it's safe soon as this is sending me absolutely crazy now.

Add that to the fact I have had no job for over 3 months now, with my last contract cancelled the day before i was due to start because of the expectation of a recession due to coronavirus, my line of work is desolate at the moment.

There's a better place, with better beer and palm trees. You'll be able to visit there this year too, Southend!

Someone posted a nice picture of Southend on Facebook yesterday. It was a photo of palm trees covered in snow, you don't see that every day. There's also a local bloke who goes skiing down the cliff Gardens toward the sea front most mornings. Thing is, after the year we've had, all this shit is seen as "normal" and no one bats an eyelid. 😒

You should see the new normal in Strood! Someone skiing down a hill, which is actually a road yesterday, when I went to the post office. Strange people who don't look human too, but that's the wife and me!
