Conspiracy Thread - Theories Or Otherwise

So we are allowed to develop our country, damaging the planet to do so, but nobody else is then allowed to catch up?

And again, per person they aren't the worst offenders.
The per person arguement is a bit spurious considering the Indian sub continent and China number 3.1 billion people between them.
China still building huge numbers of coal plants.
The research, which surveyed global coal-fired units through to 31st December, also shows 73GW of new coal power projects started in China, which is five times as much as in all other countries.4 Feb 2021

What many don't know is that China developed a cleaner method to burn that coal, in conjunction with the Germans. They have a huge number of people moving from rural to urban homes, creating huge demand for energy. They have to provide short term solutions until green energy takes over.

As I said earlier, they are 3 tears ahead of their plan already and intend to start reducing emissions after 2027.

It would be great if they were going green straight away, but they just can't. The scale is too great. I don't see how we can deny them their development.

India has about 10% the emissions per person the US does. And yes, per person is the only fair way to judge.

We're doing quite well, by the way. We emit a lot less than we used to.

I was watching NHK news the other night ( its the Japanese new channel) they were doing an article on China. 40% of all cars sold in China are Electric. To overcome the time it takes to charge a battery a company has set up hundreds of Stop, Swap battery stations. Although it costs a bit more than if you charged the batteries you can be in and out with fully charged batteries in just 3 minutes. It popular with Taxi drivers and one that was interviewed said because it works so well he does'nt lose any work at all. The company is now working with all the motor mfgs there to standardize how the batteries are fitted in the cars and they intend to keep on opening more of swop stations.

I hadn't heard about that, astonion. Sounds like a great idea. It will still be cheaper then petrol, and hopefully newer batteries are used as old ones wear out.

Some cities in China already reach 50C, so they are really keen to limit warming.

It filmed how it works, the car drives on to a ramp, and a conveyer come along drops the battery out then moves along with the fully charged one and installs it in the car. They said it only takes seconds to change them. Really impressive.
And the cars that are electric have green number plates and some had green wing mirrors to show what they are.

And if they can get manufacturers to install them in a uniform manner, then it gets even easier.

The other technologies, like sodium batteries, should allow charging in minutes, as well.

This should see us through until hydrogen us ready.

Isn't that Nio?

So that little girl in Australia who vanished for weeks and was then found a few hundred metres away from where she was found… nothing dodgy there mate

Has anyone here heard of Operation Highjump?

It's a bit of a weird one. Right after WW2, the Americans sent 4,700 men, 13 ships and 33 aircraft into the Antarctic. They left with their tails between their legs after a number of their vehicles were destroyed. Commenting on the mission afterwards:

Admiral Richard E. Byrd warned today that the United States should adopt measures of protection against the possibility of an invasion of the country by hostile planes coming from the polar regions.

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information about it online.

It can get a bit nippy there for sure.
