Dele Alli - England captain? (Image: Rex/Shutterstock)

Let's forget this idea of passing around the England captaincy and give the armband to Dele Alli now.

I know he can be spiteful, he can be antsy and that even his manager Mauricio Pochettino had a little pop the other day.

But this is the boy who needs making into a man and if Gareth Southgate were to make him captain ahead of the World Cup finals we’d see the boy fly.

Some of you will say the captaincy would take away some of his flare but that’s utter tosh and I’m sick of players being mollycoddled.

Responsibility isn’t a bad thing, it’s a great thing, and while Harry Kane is getting on with scoring the goals Alli could be marshalling the team from midfield.

He could lead England into the next two or three tournaments — he really is the outstanding choice.

I agree with that proposal.
Then Kane could become England's captain in the game following Alli's depute as a captain, taking into account that in all likelihood Alli would be sent off during that game after a bad tackling and after irritating repeatedly the referee in his capacity as the team's captain!
Or maybe not?

I've always said that England should pick their best 22, pick their best 11 and then pick the best leader to wear the armband. Right now, Alli needs to be asking himself why he keeps going missing for long periods of games for England despite his ability. It's not all Soughate's fault but the manager hasn't figured out how to get the best from him. Alli should also be asking himself why he couldn't get up for an end of season game against the old enemy in Glasgow when 11 Scots could. He was the most guilty of all the England players that day despite it being a WC qualifier. He wasn't much better in Malta either.

England have a weak squad / team and there are barely any automatic starters. Alli definitely isn't based on his England performances. His Spurs form isn't great either so just let him focus on that first.

The man who thought hitting Ulrika was a good idea.

Having seen her nasty side , I am kind of on Stan's on that one. Only joking.......I think.

Whatever her 'nasty side' no Women deserves to be treated like this:

As for his opinions; he's now nothing more than a paid gobshite shocker to get clicks...his so called demand to make Alli Captain is as ridiculous and non-credible as he is.

Yes, great idea Stan :4:

Clueless. Why would any team benefit from having a sulking moody captain, who is flat out trying to get his own game right, let alone that of his team mates.

Totally agree Hodd.

I couldn't think of a poorer choice to be honest.

By the way, does Richmond frequent this manor these days?

Wonder if he is keeping a check on Paulinho's international progress? :3:
