Colchester v Villa, Carabao Cup 1st Round, 9th Aug, 7.45pm

Alert Team
So, reading the match thread from Saturday, our promotion challenge has gone south by our failure to beat Hull, we maybe need to concentrate on the League Cup this season :3:

What say you, folks?

2-1 Villa for me, with huge numbers of Vital members descending on Villa Park on Wednesday with pitchforks, burning torches and 'Bruce Out' banners because we didn't win 20-0.

The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game against Colchester United this Wednesday.

I hope to god that this useless clown is better than the buffoon we had yesterday.

Quite easily the worst referee I have seen and I have no confidence in this bloke being any better.

The ref on Saturday definitely lived down to all expectations - the booking of Lansbury especially was beyond poor.

Aston Villa are at the Colchester Community Stadium as visitors to Colchester today for the EFL Cup, this will be a 7.45pm kick-off.

Steer, Bree, Samba, Elphick*, Taylor, Green, Hourihane, Bjarnasson, Onomah, Hogan, Mccormack*

*unless they're def leaving and don't cup tie them.
Strong enough to win and give others (hogan) chance to get confidence up.
Keep Bacuna away from the first team!

A tricky away tie against a team and supporters with nothing really to lose except some pride.

I hope we attack from the off and score a couple of goals to boost confidence and settle the nerves otherwise it could be a nervy night for those going and us to watch on TV.

Colchester 1 Aston Villa 3.........I hope!?

Just win the bloody match pls. Don't want a repeat of Luton last season thank you very much :10:

December 3rd 1974 LC - I was there at Layer Rd, 2-1 to Villa and we went on to win the cup - an omen, doubt it somehow cos in those days we had a proper team, one who was also in the second division, but one who would stuff the current team week in, week out. Living in the Past, no way, just saying.

I like living in the past. We were good then.
