HT, a scrappy start by the women and error were made in the defence but managed to get away without too much damage with captain Steph Houghton putting Goalkeeper Bardsley in a bit of bother and a fine header by the Sunderland attack, was all that Sunderland could manage in this half.
City to their credit looked why they are joint top as wave after wave finally ground down Sunderland and a lovely finish by Parris from a pass bu Corboz slammed it in from 14 metres to put the blues in front, but on the balance of play Sunderland could count themselves lucky only to be 1 down.
I am impressed by the neat passing and defence splitting moves and it is just a matter of time that more goals are added and City look good for their challenge on the title this year so far.
2nd half to come though and never count your chickens or should I say Chicks on this occasion.
