Johnny On The Spot:

#WE-HAVE-IGNITION. Make no mistake about it, City's 5th trophy win inside 5 years could not have been more crucially timed in the context of our season...Manuel Pellegrini, celebrating his 150th game in charge of The Blues and now his third title, has wrestled with a horrendous season-long key player injury list yet despite recently savage criticism from outside our club has still steered his squad on an upwards trajectory. The Engineer has again answered those critics and will leave many an openly anti-City hack and pundit creastfallen tonight...As for the final itself that what was ultimately settled by the brilliant Willy Caballero, it at times had the makings of a titanic clash but factually, City's profligacy and Liverpool's petulant lack of focused discipline (which ultimately proved their undoing) meant the game would be settled by penalties...What shone through overall though was City's experience and professionalism over naiivety emphasised by repeat diving...Here is wisdom. City now have their spine reunited, fit and firing. The Champions League? Every step forward is a pressure free bonus from here on. The Premier League? These players love the thrill of the chase and relish hunting clubs down, especially inexperienced ones. We ain't done yet!

I am really pleased for Manuel Pellegrini, we looked more solid with Vinnie back, but following a hard game and travel in midweek.

Yaya wanted this one and had we got our shooting boots on we may well just have wrapped it up long before the 90 mins.

Perhaps Raheem desperate to score snatched eagerly at his chances maybe too eagerly causing him to miss.

It added to the excitement with Liverpool having the majority of possession but other stats were clearly in our favour and we deserved to win this one especially as another good penalty shout fell on death ears. I wonder what Mr Oliver was looking at as Sergio Aguero was bundled to the floor.

Willy Caballero a hat trick of saves the third being the best and I am pleased for him, as not only this site questioned his selection but many more joined in the debate.

But Pellegrini, I would rather have lost the title than my word. Says it all.

86,206, when both teams sell out their allocation yet there is not a full house , perhaps the share to each side should be increased.it would appear that 40% is allocated to associations and companies who could not give a rats arse about the game.

The Capital One official website states a crowd of 82,206.

I agree Buzz, the corporate seating at Wembley will make the stadium a few quid but they kill the atmosphere. But, hey, money makes the world go round.

The offical site have typed it wrong, all other sites quote as I have there was 86,206 you would notice 8000 empty seats for 82 figure to be correct.

I love the way that after Yaya scored his penalty Caballero was so focused on his job that I don't think he realised the cup had been won!

I doubted him but could not have been happier to have been proved wrong & willing to eat my share of humble pie. Congratulations to Pellegrini who stuck to his word and confounded the media - loved his swipe at them in some of his post match comments about how they were waiting for him to fail.

Vindicated 2: The sequel :016:

Good to get another one in the bag. This will be an intriguing 2 months now. I note that only Cech of the top three has won a league title....

Just looking af that photo of our mercenaries there. Clearly Manuel lost the dresssing room weeks ago. LOL.

And I'll say another thing. It will be very difficult for Liverpool to pick themselves up immediately after that.

That's true but I'd imagine some of ours are out on their feet too having played 90 and then 120 minutes in the space of 4 days. Yaya and Silva particularly may be touch and go for Wednesday.

And then of course there's the Octopus, he's played all three last week lest we forget and what a job he did too.

Silva on City's dressing room cam has a huge ice pack on his ankle during the celebrations.
Presume that's a normal post match procedure for him, given his history.

Good call Dubster but I think experience will prove vital.

I noted Silva took a lot of kicks that went unpunished yesterday.

Looking ahead, we should start with Nacho up front at Candlefield. Bring Kolarov and Zaba in, start Navas.

In a few weeks we will have Nasri and De Bruyne on the way back and they will be like new signings.

I just ran through the opening on Sky and the last thing that Naill Quinn said that he hoped Willy would be the man of the match and that yaya would come to the party.

I think he better buy a lottery ticket after those predictions.
