City v Saints 3-1 Buzz on the Spot.

Alert Team
Wow, we have not won a game for three matches in all competitions and today disaster was losing Sergio to injury as he hobbled off to be replaced by Bony fresh from his injury lay off. David Silva also made a welcome return.

City started like a train on fire scored two quick goals, 16 shots on goal 9 on target, but having gone 2-0 we appeared to lose it, not sure why and that let The saints back in after goals by Kevin De Bruyne and Fabian Delph. We were wobbling until Kolarov calmed the nerves with the 3rd goal and a second assist of the day by Red Kev. 46%-54% possession in favour of Saints, but in the end City ran out winners but it wasnt easy.

Pellegrini
"We started very strong, especially in the first 25 minutes," said City boss Manuel Pellegrini. "I was very pleased with the team's reaction.
"We were a little nervous until the third goal, but I'm happy with the performance and the result."

Ronnie K

"We had a bad start. If you make those kind of mistakes against City you lose the game," "We made them strong because we lost so many balls when building up from the back.
"At least in the second half we played good football. We had a big chance through Tadic to make it 2-2. These are key moments to get something out of the game."

No news yet on Sergio, good news is it is not his hamstring, but appears to have twisted his ankle, so fingers crossed and lets hope he will be back next weekend as i feel the boss should leave him out of the midweek cup game against hull.

Manuel Pellegrini says that Sergio Aguero's injury is not that serious and was only going to play 65 minutes of todays game in any case.

It is unlikely that Sergio will play any part in Tuesday game, not because of any injury but the fact that he had played three games on the run and it would be sensible to leave him out of the midweek game.

City started 3rd at the start of the day and find themselves top at the end of the day.

Congratulations to Vardy for breaking the consecutive games scoring record for Leicester not least because he is English and scored the first goal tonight in the 1-1 draw with Stretford who could drop to 4th when arsenal win tomorrow.

Good to see the team play with some vim and verve, not allowing Southampton to settle - what a difference getting early goals makes :yup:

Sergio appeared to land awkwardly immediately before he was to be substituted and looks like it was a slight twist to his ankle. A rest on Tues might have been expected anyway so hopefully he will be back for next weekend.

Delph's energy was a welcome sight supporting Fernandinho and he took his goal well. KDB once again delivered another telling performance - a goal and two assists. Not bad.

Mention also to Caballero. I was as nervous as any before kick off but he made a couple of key saves so well done to him :hat off:

Roger East was not my favourite today with his variable interpretation of the advantage rule. The contrast between his decision to bring play back after a non-foul off the ball collision between Kolarov and Long (?) after play had continued for several seconds and Southampton players lost the ball twice and his later decision to NOT bring play back after Wanyama impeded Toure on a run towards the edge of the S'ton box was stark. Toure did get a shot off but he was surely unbalanced and affected by the grabbing of his arm. City were to blame for switching off following the award of the free kick to Southampton absolutely but East did not seem to apply the rules consistently IMO.

Great to see Silva back as well

Lots of plusses, some minuses and disappointing to see the ref at fault for the Saints' goal. Good to see Merlin back, hopefully Aguero not out for long and well done Willy for not being a disaster.

Best of all - well done AK13 - you might be a shit defender but good goal!

Mulled wine and lots of it goes some way to papering over the cracks!

Mr. P. Has said Sergio "had a kick on his heel but it is not importsnt".

Apparently we should have had a penalty with handball which would have reduced them to 10 men, however Fabian scored from the resulting corner, so not lost, but settled the butterflies when Alex scored.

Yes indeed, thankfully otherwise it may have been a bit more of a squeaky bum game than it was. They had a similar shout against Ferna in the second half so we'll call it evens.

Needed that 2 goal cushion though.

Great to see you back Merlin, hope you can stay fit for the rest of the season cause we need your vision. Also well done to big Willy, he should have come for the ball for their first, but he did make two top saves.
