CIty to feature in new Amazon documentary

Manchester City will be the focal point of a new Amazon Prime Video series that takes viewers behind the scenes during the 2017/18 season.

The ground-breaking, multi-episode series will follow the Club throughout the current campaign, offering fans an insight into the day-to-day workings at the City Football Academy and the lives of Pep Guardiola and his players.

An Amazon Prime Original, the programme is scheduled for a 2018 release in more than 200 countries and in addition to taking fans into the inner sanctum of the Club’s world-leading training facilities, it will also include interviews with the manager and access to executive meetings.

“We are delighted to begin this strategic relationship with Amazon, one of the world’s leading companies,” said City CEO, Ferran Soriano.

“Amazon Prime Video is the perfect home for a ground-breaking project that will offer a unique and authentic inside view into Manchester City’s season like never before.
“This is an extremely exciting time for Manchester City and through Amazon’s world-class service, we will be able to share it with football fans all over the world.”

The show joins a growing list of Amazon Original sports entertainment programmes, including, The Grand Tour, two series of All Or Nothing which follows the Arizona Cardinals and The Los Angeles Rams over an entire NFL season, New Zealand All Blacks, McLaren F1, and live streaming of NFL Thursday Night Football and the ATP Next Gen Finals.

It will be available to stream via the Amazon Prime Video app for TVs, connected devices including Fire TV, mobile devices and online, Heather Schuster, Amazon Original’s Head of Unscripted, is looking forward to sharing the Club’s story across the globe.

“This new Amazon Prime Original series will give Prime members extraordinary insight into Manchester City, the top English Premier League Football team and one of the most exciting and respected teams globally,” she added.

“The story behind the coaches and players is fascinating and we are very excited to work with the Manchester City team to deliver an exclusive all access experience to our Prime members.”

I think they are issues with Sky & BT Sport regarding filming on match days (unless these have been ironed out) so those elements of the season may not feature so much.

Don’t expect anything until 2018
