City Looking For Chelsea Hat-trick

Manchester City completed a Premier League double over Chelsea last season and with the leagues big guns poised to face one another this Saturday could City make it a win hat-trick?

Corresponding fixture

Sunday 16 August 2015
Etihad Stadium
Manchester City 3-0 Chelsea
Sergio Aguero (31), Vincent Kompany (79) and Fernandinho (85)

Stats

Chelsea's poor start to the Premier League season continued with a 3-0 thumping by Manchester City to leave Jose Mourinho's misfiring champions with one point from their opening two games.

Sergio Aguero's superb finish gave City a deserved 31st- minute lead and Vincent Kompany's second goal in two games sealed the points for Manuel Pellegrini's side before Fernandinho completed the rout.

Saturday 16 April 2016
Stamford Bridge
Chelsea 0-3 Manchester City
Sergio Aguero hat-trick - (33, 54, pen 80)

Manchester City outplayed a resolute and determined Chelsea side at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, but a hat trick from Sergio Aguero was enough to keep the Blues on course to finish the Premier League season in the top four.

FA Cup Sunday 21 February

There was on blip when, then City boss Manuel Pellegrini fielded a weakened team at Stamford Bridge and of course we all know what happened next. Chelsea stuffed us 5-1. Manuel was criticised for fielding a team of youngsters but we all knew there were bigger fish to fry IE the Champions League, which, turned out to be a fairly successful run.

Can City make it a Premier League (on the bounce) hat-trick?

Overall stats (league)

Man City wins – 46
Chelsea – 57
Draws - 39

A seriously tough fixture.

Might have to watch from behind the sofa.

I have NO idea how Pep is going to set his team up this weekend :059:

Anthony Taylor will be in charge of the whistle and the cards on Saturday.....

I am not sure if we are at the top of our game, Chelsea will be. Will there be a lot of tinkering to the team, we shall see

He shouldn't tinker for this game. Put out our strongest side. He doesn't need to factor in the Celtic game coming up because that result doesn't matter.

I think this will almost be like the Barca game for the players.

They know they have not been at 100% for a few games, but I think they know that this one matters .

Expecting early season form to bamboozle Luis to the extent that he gets sent off, and KDB to star and get hacked down from behind by Costa who will also see red .

The resting of so many of our top players last weekend points to the strongest possible XI for this one.
Formation/tactics? That's an entirely different kettle of fish :047:

Cost and seems to have been picking fewer fights with everyone since the departure of Maureen and the arrival of Conte which is interesting.

He still falls and over at the drop of a hat though. Slightest breath of wind could be enough to cause him to lose his balance when near the opposition penalty area although strangely the phenomenon doesn't appear to afflict him when he is winning the ball against an opponent by the halfway line. :048: A case of Footballers Situational Inner Ear Imbalance - FSIEI. Ashley Plunge was a well known sufferer

Presumably we will have our strongest side out for this one so with that in mind I am sure we will account for Conte's counts. :018:

That's true of course Buzz but ok as long as we can count on him to counter the counts all will be well. :010:

The Dog, we, missed him badly at Burnley, with pep not playing any play maker until late on, but I can understand why he rested The Dog, he had come back from injury and a rest would probably have been the best thing.

You should play in the Be the manager with us John, it is just a bit of fun, but Pep does half get to you just when you think you have him, but then he throws a low baller.
