City Gossip

He loves to challenge himself and would hate to leave feeling the project is incomplete. We will watch this situation with keen interest.

The management did not invest all their time and money over the past years re-organising the club structure, setting up the academy, developing the CFG without having one eye on the future post-Pep. Success in the Champions League is one of the key components of that plan and I am sure they will have faith in Pep's ability to deliver despite the fact that he has not achieved this goal since leaving Barcelona.

This is going to be a critical period. Decisions taken now concerning the next set of players to make the assault on European football's top prize are being identified for recruitment. Choosing who will lead them is a vital part of that plan.

I would love to see messi in the premier league, playing for City of course, the shirt sales alone will offset the money we will have to spend getting him, but it is an opportunity of getting a player that can still do it even at his age.

Lovely idea but how much would be cost, £200m? He's an icon, possibly one of the three best players to ever put their laces through a ball so he won't be cheap even at 33. At £100 a go we'd need to sell 2m jerseys.

What happens to the wage structure - whose contract demands parity with the top earner at the club? What about the dressing room, is he immediately made captain and the players told everything goes through Messi?

Will he demand the #10 shirt or will he be happy with #9 or something in the late 20's?

Is he Robinho MK2, an upgrade admittedly - a symbol of our increased status, flaunting our wealth to everyone/UEFA?

We'd be buying what will sooner rather than later be the shell of a great, great player. He wouldn't be the future, he'd be a desperate attempt to land the CL next season. Pep needs to prove he can win it without him.

at 34 even Barcelona would not expect that much especially as his wages would help barca recruit more players DS21's wages goes part wage to subsidising the deal and his commercial value could offset more, it is a win win.
