The Jandon Sancho selection was always going to bring this sort of comparison out. He isn't the first and I dare say he won't be the last 'one that got away'. It is a shame, he looks like a real talent & I hope he does well.
But the investment in the academy always had two main drives imo - to discover a 'gem' or two and to provide a long-term income stream from players who aren't selected for the first team squad but who will make a career in the professional game elsewhere.....and whose movement will, with properly structured clauses, generate a revenue stream for MCFC. Dare I say it is part of the "holistic" approach referred to some time ago by Garry Cook.......
