City Finances

Given that there are no, that I can find, confirmation of player numbers (or staff numbers), I'm not sure how you'd work out an average wage?

It's difficult to make a lot of assumptions about L1 and L2 clubs as their accounts give away very little information compared with those in the PL and Championship because of the sizes of the companies.

However, FGR are much less opaque than most and their profit is surely a fiction as we're expected to believe that their sponsorship and advertising revenues leapt from less than 1.0m to over £2.4m in the season following their promotion.

Still, the graphic shows the total madness of it all.

And some people think football is a business.

Exeter sold Wheeler and Watkins, but what's the deal with Port Vale??? Didn't do them much good in 18/19 making over £1m...

so is that high sign on fees, off set by smaller salary?
what is the tax and ni situation on a signing-on fee, the same as if it was put into the paye?

For those that were at the AGM remember that the vast majority of our operating losses were made up via investment from the board so that's a little bit misleading in terms of where we are financially.

I would imagine the wages per week were not far off the mark. You only have to look in the players car park on match days to see that. Some seriously expensive motors in there now!

By far and away the biggest cost to clubs will be player and staff wages. It would be interesting to see a graph showing the comparative total wage bill paid by each club.

A % of turnover is probably the better way of looking at it. This is only a selection, though.

In case you wondered - From FGR website "Ecotricity Group Ltd own 95.8% of Forest Green Rovers Ltd."

When the owner is also the sponsor then you can understand it quite easily. A smaller version of the Man City Stadium naming situation.

You need the additions figure for 17/18 which is the £K 795 figure.

The £K 65 relates to prior years.

Well there is absolutely no way we have spent close on £800k on transfers.
Not on one season and not in probably most seasons put together.
So what does that figure represent ?
