Heads for the naughty step as I write this; :51: :51: :51:

A thread for all things Christmasy; from Christmas shopping, films, food, fake or real Christmas trees and all the rest of that Jazz. Photo's welcomed. Yes Scrooges are allowed to post. What would Christmas be without Ebeneezer Scrooge :51: :18: :19: :7: :51:

Well as all my Christmas present shopping is done, cards written and ready to go, I am now into the baking and prepping.

Yesterday I prepped and cooked 3 Christmas Cakes, 1 large Christmas pudding, individual puds and sweet mincemeat.

Today I have 1 cake left to cook and the sweet mincemeat to jar up. I also will be making pastry for sausage rolls and mince pies which I will freeze. Other than that I have 1 chocolate torte to make up.

Jeus we aren't even at home for Christmas day as we are going to the eldest KK son with DIL KK and her family.

Lots of Christmas do's in December so some of this is for that.

How? How is this even possible??!!!!

I count myself as a well-organised individual, but all I have is the wrapping paper, cellotape and unused cards from last year, all in a box in the cupboard.

Fair play to you KK :1:

I'll buy the kids presents on Christmas Eve and the Mrs will sort out the dinner. Lovely hurling.

I'm not getting sucked into any Christmas talk/shenanigans until the 1st December

Should be fucking outlawed until that date

:93:

I'm torn here.

Love xmas, and no problem discussing it, but I think Cliff Richard is the devil, hate his guts, and therefore the title of this thread annoys me.

Yes there should be no talk of Christmas until December at the earliest.

If I had any say in the matter the tree would go up on the 24th and be taken down on the 26th.

I think it would be quite nice if it wasn't such a long / commercial period now.

I understand the selling has to start and so the adverts begin but mid November for full on xmas ads just seems ridiculous to me.

You can have the products in the shops without the songs and decorations. Then a couple of weeks before Christmas, go for it... THEN it would seem like a nice exciting time maybe.

We didn't used to decorate at home until we broke up from school, so what would that have been, 18th of Dec ish?

One of my lovely friends i saw post on facebook today she'd decorated her house already!

I've no problems looking forward to it now as Halloween and Bonfire night are out of the way so its the next big thing, so why not discuss it.

I've no problem being organised and buy stuff now. I need to spread it over 2 pay days so I always start mid November.

But yeah i kind of agree, when it comes to house decorating, or playing xmas songs and showing xmas films that really shouldnt start until the advent calendars are out.

Yup, agreed, preparing, talking about it, getting organised so it isn't all rushed.

Just the rest drags it out too much.

I've got the pressies sorted for those that need them as I cannot take the busy crowds in the shops with my dizziness etc !

Second Christmas without my dad, first Christmas without my mum...gonna be a weird one for me

Yes, it can be tough can't it? Very emotional and sentimental time. Can be great for those with kids and families around them. Can be very difficult for those suffering loss or other stuff.

Not putting a damper on the enjoyment others get obviously, but it can be a very awkward time.

I know it's easy to say mate, but your mom & dad wouldn't want to see you miserable at xmas.

I was miserable the 1st xmas after my wife Sarah passed away, but then i realised she'd kick my arse as she was so fun loving, so after that I got over it and started enjoying xmas again the following year. Gotta remember the good times and try to make even more.

Yes, totally, i'm not going to be miserable, going to see the nieces and nephew, my brother and sister, maybe some extended family and friends...

didn't mean to put a dampener on things, it's just going to be really odd after 36 years not seeing either of them for christmas!

It will be villawill! I still miss my Mom and it's been 6 years. I have all the memories of doing the Christmas baking with her as a child and an adult.

.................................................................................................................

I have November & December off from Christmas shopping. I will start again in January in the sales, with the Christmas cards wrapping page etc. Yes I am one of those frightfully horrible organised person who has too many to buy for and has learnt to do it all year round so presents are done by October end.

Usually I do 1 last full day at the shops for the last things for presents. I did buy on the net as well. I made a day of the last day.

This year it has been all bought online. I couldn't be hassled with the shops with my health and all with Mr KK this year.

Food shopping is ordered from Morrison's as I have an online pass for delivery I pay for every 6 months, so i get first choice of pre booking.

Always a real tree - Mrs JPA would have me out on my ear of I came home with a fake one.

Disgraceful waste of money however, north of 60 quid these days :37:

I think this might shock you all.

I don't put up a tree.

Or indeed decorations (I put A decoratioN when my parents come round Christmas Eve, it often is put away Boxing day! I do sometimes put lights up across my cd shelves as well)
