Cheltenham Festival

Cheltenham Festival is upon us and I thought it deserved a thread. A group of us go every year on the Thursday, 48 of us this year, it is without a doubt my favourite day of the year - better than my birthday or Christmas.

Anybody else going down / have any tips etc...?

Was there Thursday/Friday last year absolutely brilliant would have gone again this year but funds are low at the moment.I really fancy Present View ew in the last today I think Bobs Worth will win the Gold Cup again and I think At Fishers Cross will go close in the World Hurdle.Desperate news about Our Conor sad times indeed when one has to be put down.

Yes I can't see past Bobs Worth given his record at Cheltenham.

Annie Power is nailed on in the World Hurdle.

Yeah I do like Annie Power but she has beat Zarkandar twice which is probably her best form but I do think Nicholls horse falls a bit short of top class.Big Bucks didn't look the same last time and for me At Fishers Cross was breath taking at the festival last season only thing is it would probably prefer softer ground.

Really sad about Our Conor - has put a bit of a shadow over the opening day.

No winners for me today - hope my luck changes by Thursday!

How many horses were in the race where the horse died?

Not like the vile grand national is it?

I like horses but have no interest in racing or gambling. I have no problem with others enjoying it.

There were 9 runners the Grand National has changed a lot now J no where near as dangerous these days.My main bet won today Present View.

Just backing the two today Corrin Wood 2.05 backed this horse every time it has run this season and been particularly impressed with his jumping and Big Shu in the cross country race.

I think Smad Place will be there or thereabouts , and would like to see Ballyatton run well as he is trained about 5 miles from where I live.

That Smad Place is a infuriating horse though one minute he looks a world beater and the next he looks awful but he does tend to run well at the festival but I have come to the conclusion sirdennis that you just like to piss my chips lol.

Lol this game is all about opinions though isn't it. If you listen to the trainers they all say their horses will run well and you could get very confused.

Smad Place has a really good record at the festival and beat Sam Winner well last time and Paul Nicholls rates that highly.

Yeah I packed in listening to trainers and jockeys long time ago I think you should form your own opinion and stick to it.That bloody Sam Winner I had a really big bet on that last year at the festival finished 18th of 24 was struggling after the second lol.

My bets today;

13:30pm - Red Sherlock
14:05pm - Le Bec
14:40pm - Ifandbutwhynot
15:20pm - Hinterland

I have a bit of a fancy for Hinterland anyway GT what you doing gambling you Heathen lol.

What do you think of them choices gator as I havnt a clue which horse is good/bad these days? I have ifandbutwhynot and Hinterland as EW, the other 2 are win only.

According to David Pipe Red Sherlock is one of his best chances of the meeting what I like about this horse is that he grinds it out I much prefer horses like this than bridle horses his last race was very good between him and the favourite for me.Le Bec has been running very well this season so should run well.Ifandbutwhynot is a horse i followed in his early days he travels really well in his races but he's a hold up horse and in a big field like the one today he will need a bit of luck in running but if everything falls right he could be there his trainer is a very promising young prospect. As I have already said I fancy Hinterland myself best of luck buddy.

Thanks mate - ive chosen horses all with course experience, 3 are listed with CD and 1 with just C , not sure if it will make any difference or not.
