would love to know the story behind why they preferred to loan him to us, rather than to loan him to the ex-assistant manager. good one for hortin to investigate?
To be fair, it's not so long since they had a stint in this division, so possibly pretty well equipped to judge. Or maybe they've forgotten, and just think league 1 is full of pub players like a lot of PL fans do.
Having a number of quality players in each department is definitely going to be important this season, with loads of Sat/Tues/Sat.
The difference between having 4 good midfielders for 3 positions and 5 good midfielders is going to be significant.
I would say we have 5 players you would happily play in midfield. (even excluding Grant).
Bridcutt, Jones, Edun, Gotts, McGrandles
Meaning (with continual rotation) 2 of the 5 can have the next match off and 2 of the 3 playing would have not played the previous match.
Plenty of energy available against other sides which may be knackered.
