Changes in language that bug you.

#1
I'm fully aware of the fact that this is purely a sign of middle age encroaching on me combined with me being a picky git but there are a few changes in language usage that seem unnecessary, born out of ignorance and just generally annoy me.

These changes include but are not limited to:

"At the moment" being replaced with "at the minute"
"Subconcious" being entirely abandoned and substituted with "unconcious" (unconcious used to mean that you were in a dormant state, subconcious was used to describe everything happening on a level under conciousness)
"Bring" being used instead of "take" (this one is an Americanism that seems to be catching on)
"Second guess", what is wrong with saying "doubt"?

There are many more but if I'm not boring you yet I soon will be.

Am I alone in this?

No your not! I am not sure my main bugs come under changes in language however my top bug is people using 'you know' every other word. The whole 'you know' thing drives me round the bend.

Waits for the 1st 1 to do the 'you know' post

God, I will be on this all week.

The total Americanisation of the English language absolutely drives me made.

People saying "I will inquire" , not "I will enquire"
"Argument" not "Arguament"
"Uber" - where the hell did that one come from

Loads in football terms "regulation time" not "normal time" , "zones", "offence" "strikers" - the list is endless

That'll do for starters

Jonathan and I...

it isn't me and Jonathan.

I can just about accept Jonathan and me now, but still, nothing wrong with saying it correctly.
