Championship Transfers: Summer 2026

Summer is almost upon us and the transfer window opens for registrations on Monday 15 June. That does not mean players cannot be signed before then, of course, and some clubs are already active in converting last season's loans into permanent deals. The window closes at 11pm on Tuesday 1 September.

I will note every transfer in and out in the usual format; this thread is for confirmed moves only, so kindly post speculation on other threads.

A note about the number of departures: clubs at this level operate complicated age structures - some have U18, U21, U24 and senior squads - which makes it difficult to compare retained lists. I have tried to follow the lists as published on club websites, although I have only listed released players aged 20 and above in order to provide some form of comparison.

EDIT: This year, I have included loanees returning to their parent clubs because we are not familiar with the relevant strengths or weaknesses of last season's Championship squads. What is noticeable immediately is how few there were compared with the number of loans to League One.

Is this going to be the 'see what you're up against' thread? What do we reckon the biggest signing we'll see over summer will be? 20 million? 30?

Yes probably, likely to come from Birmingham City I expect ... Wolves & West Ham selling players for those sort of numbers rather than purchasing.

Scary stuff actually.
