Of course the Manager has a major role to play but ultimately it's the players who are responsible for lack of effort. Going down with a whimper is unforgivable.
I wonder how many of those players will find themselves on the football scrapheap next season.

What he could do perhaps is make an embarrassing substitution half way through the first half and, at half time, threaten anyone else who underperforms with the same treatment.
