He was unique in his abilities. But that doesn't mean you can't improve on that position. A more incisive passer, quicker release of the ball, more prolific scorer etc.

I would argue that Poch has used him pretty effectively, but as we have progressed his role next season should be our only defensive midfield player for home games against teams outside top 6. At this point we do not need two DM against most sides, what we need IMO is someone within 10 metres of him that can receive the ball and move it forward quickly like Modders. We have no one else that can receive the ball in tight situation wriggle free and retain possession.
