Bury

On the face of it a very decent gesture. My only concern is exactly who gets such a donation. Straight into Dales pocket???
I think they are donating it to Forever Bury who are attempting to launch a new Phoenix club. They played a charity match with former players at the weekend including Ryan Lowe and Dean West at a non league ground and got a capacity 2,000 crowd so Chichester's donation will go to help them set up a new club. Well done Chichester a magnificent gesture:clap:

That's very pleasing then

Talksport reported that the Chichester players were celebrating Bury's demise at the end of the cup draw.
They immediately got pulled to pieces on Twitter and now report that Chichester enjoyed a slice of luck instead!

Not sure Chichester need have done any such gesture but hope Bury fans remember this (they seem to have had very short memories so far...).
Maybe in due course "AFC Bury" could take their revived team down to Chichester for a friendly to earn a bit of funds for Chichester who must survive on a tiny budget in comparison to what we or Bury operate on.

I'm sure that at least some of the Chichester players have known the pain of not getting paid for some period of time or the uncertainty of redundancy in the course of their main career...

Also can't expect Talksport's reporting to be reliable. Chichester players were probably and quite understandably simply celebrating making the 2nd Round.

Some interesting details beginning to come out here. Also in oral evidence.

An astounding passage between Greg Clarke and one of the select committee MPs. Clarke managed to convey an air of arrogance and ignorance that even I didn’t think he was capable of.

Very interesting and scary, if you have the time and inclination to read this.

The general summary of the FA and the EFL’s evidence to parliament about football finance and the Bury demise...

The PL have much better rules on fit directors and club financial viability than the EFL.

The FA is the overarching body of football but don’t consider it their job to share and enforce the better practice of the PL to the rest of the football leagues.

Greg Clarke (FA) supported the football creditors rule, which ends up with clubs carrying on in business without having to pay in full, non football debts - in the next breath he also said it was not moral.

He appeared to agree regulation of football finances was all over the place especially in the EFL but FA didn’t think it was their job to do anything about it.

He was however concerned and aware of the Bury issues - to the extent that he took no action or made any enquiry until Bury had actually gone out of business.

He was the more impressive of the 2 main witnesses.

Debbie Jeavons of the EFL was the other.

She stated that there were good rules for financial play in the EFL which was strictly monitored all the time.

However, she could not explain why Deloittes the accountancy firm had looked at the EFL clubs published accounts and they indicated most clubs were breaking the rules.

She also could not explain how Bury’s insolvent state was not detected if the rules were working properly.

The straight forward questioning of her showed the Financial Fair Play numbers could in effect made up by the clubs and were not checked properly.

On fit and proper directors - It seemed the final owner of Bury was able to become directors without proving they had sufficient funds to run the club.

He would also have passed the fit and proper test of a director, even though in the same week he took charge some of his businesses had been declared insolvent.

In general she seemed to know very little detail on simple questions, didn’t know yet what had gone wrong and had no suggestions as to how to improve things.

If it was not so serious and troubling it would have been laughable that this person is running the EFL.

Other than that was much reassure football is in good hands.
