Bury

Oh, yeah, I knew that. I thought you might have been referring to a different team as others had been talking about Bangor City etc.

Oh it was me who mentioned Bangor City.
(Gary Taylor-Fletcher has been playing for them btw)
And a little update on them - their fans have decided to start up a new supporters' run club.

The size of the debt, the ongoing millstone of those high interest loans, no assets, nil cash flow and the strange situation over bank accounts (Nat West account frozen - why?) suggests the only way Bury can survive is by a huge injection of cash. If the debt really is between £9m and £12m, who would be crazy enough to do that? On average gates of 3800 (for the last five years), it would be nonsensical to keep that going.

Surely there is only one likely outcome here?

Well can they go down the administration route, lose 10 points, wipe out millions of debt, impoverish all the creditors, and then just carry on as if nothing bad ever happened??

The latest is a leaked e-mail from new Chairman, Steven Dale, where he bemoans the very people he has failed to pay, passing on details of his private pronouncements to the Press. As can be imagined, this bullying behaviour (accept everything I say and support me despite all of the evidence that the ship is sinking and I am not paying you) isn't particularly well received by the majority of fans,

Does anyone know why that Nat West account has been frozen in the first place? Mr Dale also said they had new bankers, but who in their right mind would take that on as a new business account? City couldn't find new bankers owing £380,000, let alone £12m.

Sincilbanks is right about the original statement being changed. There are some very strange statements being made, only to be contradicted later. Nothing makes any sense.

Often happens a company finds it accounts frozen following a winding up petition

A million pound a point. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Gallows humour from the Shakers fans. I have to say I feel for them,

Can't say that I feel much sympathy for the poor old Shakers. So many clubs have been down a similar route including ourselves, most pull round after a year or two, some disappear into ignominy (Rushden, Boston et al). 5 or 6 weeks ago they were champions elect, playing the best football ever seen in league 4, with their fans reverting to behaviour reminiscent of the sixties\seventies. A few more years in the lower echelons may possibly be of benefit.

Now the 14-day deadline has passed, the players can walk away if they want to.

Can anyone explain how the players have still received no money, given that Bury have now had three cash-only home fixtures since it all hit the fan? With their bank account still frozen, where has the cash gone?

Time to give Mayor a call?

I thought there had been some sort of agreement prior to their game Saturday. Clearly not, then. And more lies.

I'm not sure that this statement chimes with the sentiments being expressed on the forums,

"It's testament to our staff and players that we're such a united club that even through adversity they came together and put on such a good show on Saturday."

https://www.gigglane.com/index.php?/topic/33824-steve-dale/page/17/
'A united club'? Good grief! Has a club ever been less so? Perhaps Mr Dale should ask the staff he hasn't paid for six weeks whether they agree with that.

The next set of wages are due at the end of next week. That should be interesting.

I can just about remember finding a few quid and a couple of ciggies in my boots before trotting out on the Cow Paddle and the likes............maybe that is where the gate money has gone ??

I see the begging bowls are out again. I don’t see why hard working fans of Bury (and others) should cough up their own money to cover the inadequacies of a Chairman that has had months to sort this out.

Yes, why should ordinary people be giving up money like it's to a charity, when in effect it's to pay 20-25 blokes who earn 10 x what they do?

To begin with, exactly how many League Two footballers do you think earn 10x what most people do? Secondly, this is affecting all the administrative and peripheral staff too: the people with families who perform a 9-5 job in good faith, expecting their employer to keep its side of the bargain and actually pay them for what they have done. They cannot pay their rent/mortgage or other bills, they cannot go shopping or do anything requiring money. It is not their fault. What would you do in that situation?
