Burnley

Interesting the different responses from DF on Idah and Leitner. Idah was more like 'he is a good youngster and is in his mind for next game and is a real talent'. Leitner he was like too many options and he (df) cant keep everyone happy.

it does sound like Lietner is on the way out.

On Idah:

'it is a bit harsh on Adam because he was crucial at Preston. It was just due to the strength of my strikers if I am honest. We had a strong group. Just two changes from the Tottenham game in terms of the travelling squad. We needed a winger option on the bench with no Todd Cantwell or Emi Buendia available. Josh had produced some good performances for the Under-23s and in training and I needed a winger option. So the only other change was Mario Vrancic coming back in for Ibrahim, who was injured. It felt a bit harsh but we wanted to go to the next round and that is why our red hot striker Teemu Pukki was on the bench too. But he had started the last two games after coming back from injury, two games in five days, so we could use him for 30 or 40 minutes. Then with Josip (Drmic) starting I didn't need another striker option. So, yes, harsh on Adam but he is in my thoughts and we have created some space for him to allow Dennis Srbeny to go. At 18, he is the third striker at Premier League level. Not a bad position to be in. I am happy with him. He is a great lad.

on Leitner:

Moritz, like Adam, will be disappointed. But we wanted our strongest squad. In the last league games we had to make some choices. Kenny was fantastic at Tottenham and Alex Tettey, good as well, and they were the options on the bench for these midfield areas. It is always good when quality players are not able to make the line up. I am not here to win the Nobel Peace prize. I am here to win football matches and everyone has to accept my decisions. There is lots of competition. That is professional football.'

Also, interesting that DF said he has such strength in his attacking options that Idah couldn't get in today ---- strength he means two players one who looks lacking in game time. He said that he had Tettey and McLean on the bench as we needed midfielder options, Martin for the winger role as Emi and Cantwell are injured but was happy with just Aarons for defence - I do wonder why he is so happy with the lack of depth in Defence but I guess Klose is back in February and Godfrey after Newcastle.

Stiepermann had a few good moments but then out did himself with a stupid pass to no one and a lob when drmic was free. He just gets a bit to cocky / lazy. Duda instantly made us look better when attacking.
