Burnley v Swansea Sunday 10 Nov 15:00

Next up in our three match week before the International break is upon us once again is Burnley.

Their last two home matches were drawn 0-0 against Preston and QPR, but they had previously beaten Cardiff 5-0.

Last away match they lost 1-0 at Millwall.

We meet up again with ex-Swans players Connor Roberts and Bashir Humphreys but another, Jack Cork, is now player-coach with Burnley Academy.

Lawrence Vigouroux returns to Burnley for the first time since his summer transfer.

After their relegation from the PL at the end of last season head-coach Vincent Kompany left Burnley for Bayern Munich, £10m compensation paid.

Ex-Fulham and Bournemouth manager Scott Parker replaced him in July.

Transferred out were 9 players worth £90m and transferred in 6 players worth £48.6m, the power of the Sky money eh!

The league table is looking very tight this morning. We are just 3 points from a play-off place in 9th spot, but conversely only 4 points from a relegation place.

After losing 1-0 at Millwall on Saturday, 4th placed Burnley, our next opponents, played out a boring 0-0 draw last night at 5th placed WBA, both teams with tight defences. Burnley did get the ball in the net second-half but it was ruled out for a foul.

HT: 0-0
Burnley the better side on the balance of play.
They’ve got the beating of us on the wings, Key and Tymon need to do better. Ronald sloppy in possession.
Swans players caught off-side several times.
Burnley 3 shots on target, Swansea 1.

93’ stoppage time. Matt Grimes of all people, cross by Humphreys, it was an unintentional ball to arm and not a penalty. Ref hesitated for ages before giving it. If he hesitated to consult the linesman there’s no way he could have seen anything. No luck Swansea.
Rodriguez 1-0
We deserved the draw, we were robbed by an incompetent ref favouring the home side and a poor decision once again.
97’ FT: 1-0

Here we go again and into yet another of those infernal International breaks, this time a 19 day gap between our home matches. One consolation, after the next match it will be only 37 days before the transfer window opens again!

A chance to rectify the mistakes of the summer window if possible. Not the ideal time to do business with inflated prices but a few quality loanees wouldn’t go amiss. Oh, and tie down our defensive pair to new contracts.

Our deficiencies in the middle and final thirds is there for all to see. We are the lowest scoring team in the Championship for a reason.

Get that right and who knows where we’ll end up.
