The EU was concieved and continues to be a vehicle primarily for the benefit and protection of german industry and french agriculture. The french didnt want UK in at all. Over time its also become a useful source of cheap labour in return for which crumbs are thrown to countries supplying said cheap labour as long as they behave themselves. When they dont they are whipped accordingly re Greece.
As for peace and security well here comes the EU army as next stage - folk forget its NATO not the EU which has kept the peace and who doesnt pay full subs into that ? Germany and France for starters !
UK has and under the joke of a deal will be played like a fiddle by these countries for the forseeable. Isn't this obvious ?

heers a stat i herd the other day. 28 countrys pay into the eu. 18 get paid back more than they put in were subsidizing more than half of europe.

That's exactly my point brick, and exactly the reason Europe doesn't want us to leave! As the saying goes They only want us for our money!!
